My first Windows phone was xperia x1. I believe windows 6.1 ws in it. I installed windows6.5 custom rom from xda in it. I must say that was a really good Windows phone OS than windows 10. It was like a real Windows mini pc in hand. I really miss those OS. It Has proper file system and it was kind of smooth.now imagine that OS on lumia 950. How smooth that will be.......

Very well I am a Windows mobile fan, and I tiink the windows phone is the opcional to IOS and Android.

Definitely not yet bug free. Apps crash or don't launch, no Outlook Task sync (so much for having the best Microsoft experience on MS hardware), no Panorama (WTF's up with that?!?!), annoying calendar bug where the date in a new meeting doesn't correspond with where you were looking, some general features only available in regions with Cortana (only 6 or so...), etc.

I believe, windows has all those ones but virusfree and without ads. I am using Lumia 930 and love it. I have used Androids and have a sony one as secondary mobile.
Windows is smooth and clear without lags. I personally like and would by their surface mobile when available. I am a common man, no money to waste on iphones and change phones frequenly. so prefer the well built Nokia/windows phones.

We hate you for destroying Symbian and Meego. We won't take a MS phone ever.

But i like a phone which should fast enough, better multi tasking. My dad's lumia 640 takes ages even to open WhatsApp. Yes, there is liquid flow graphics. But it takes more time to open apps and to open other pages. So many people love other platforms.

Journalists or bloggers will typically give most praise to the unit they use. Anything that may be innovative in new types of phones are brought down, then when their phone gets it it's amazing. There's a real Apple bias for example. The 950/xl were in bad shape when they first released. The OS has gotten way better and apps have grown since. But I recall one review by gizmodo where the guy starts off article saying "when I found out I was going to be forced to use this for 2 weeks I thought "ugh". That's a good way to start your bias. And of course everything on it was bad. Even the Apple screen was better, brighter, better, etc. Yet GSMArena did a pretty good review showing the 950xl actually had the brightest screen with 705nits. And it looks great, which it does. The OS is really designed to work with the gorgeous screen too.
I still don't think it's ready for prime time though. I think MS knows that and wont make the same mistake so is waiting for Redstone 2.

The biggest problem with windows phone is not the system or phone, it is public opinion. People out there tell others don't like windows phone without ever trying it, and don't know why they are saying that, one after another, one pass to others. This lead to windows phone market decline.
Android lovers may find most phone will never get latest update. Each carrier and maker has their modified android loaded to each phone, then each different model have to wait to get latest update from different carrier or phone maker, which may never come. The only way to get update is to buy new phones. Google released new features to enable update, but only available on android N, and N is not coming to phones yet, so now back to square one.
