Smartphone market grew 55 percent, iOS declining by 2014

9 September, 2010
There are some good times ahead for smartphones, say market analysts from IDC. Smartphone market share is expected to grow by over 50% and oddly iOS will be declining in the future, with Android and Windows...

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2010Iphone is probably one the most overrated and overhyped pie... more512MB of RAM in the iPhone 4.

What's the most you can get in a Nokia?

What's that?

The N8?

How much does it have?

Half of the iPhone 4's 512, that would be like last years 3GS.

There, that's ONE THING, you want some more you loser.

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2010Really? But why are you upset? Is it because not everyone... moreOh yeah, i just saw that you mentioned N8.

So you actually don't think that 12MP camera, HDMI port, USB-on-the-go, memory card slot, full qwerty super slim keyboard, Xenon flash, non-breakable gorilla glass, bluetooth 3.0, 720P TV-out, class 33 Edge and gprs, HSDPA at 10.2 Mbps, free Gps and Geotagging with Navteq, Videocalling over 3G and 4G, 5-band 3G etc etc is better than your piece of iJunk?

Are you really that blind or just plain dumb with no basic understanding for hardware at all?

I am not making an assumption, i am just asking you?

The first of its kind (accessible touchscreen slab form factor) and 2.) It's the norm. The massive demand for the iPhone since its release has lead it to become highly successful and thus a point of comparison for other phones.

However, I want to point out it's hip modern culture due to its eye candy and simplicity in execution, but not so in terms of technical prowess. In specifications and raw performance, it is seriously outclassed. Even a Symbian-powered Nokia had more features for cheap and introduced much, much earlier.

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2010Really? But why are you upset? Is it because not everyone... moreJudging from your reaction i see that i hit a softspot there with a correct "market group" prediction.. sweet!

You actually think that just because i think Nokia makes better 200 dollar E-series phones than Apples 800 dollar iJunk that i must automatically mean that i am a Nokia user?

How totally narrow sighted.. Well i wouldn't expect nothing else from a Apple user anyway, or you wouldn't even be buying Apple products now would you?

I have a HTC HD2 right now, and before that i had a Nokia N900, both of which kick the living daylights out of any phone from the iPhone series... specially my little sisters iPhone 4.

So in your world, everyone with the at least half and ounce of knowledge about technology that think iPhone is junk is basically just hater right? How adoring.. And how boring and uneducational is must be to think that way.

I think iPhone is junk bacause it is junk, and nothing else.

But the fact that all reviewers almost always compare all of them to the iphone, just proves that the iphone is still the standard or the benchmark for all touchscreen phones. So I wouldn't say that there other better alternatives than the iphone. Obviously, a lot of people preferred the iphone over the galaxy s or evo or the droids. The iphone will always be a strong competitor in the high end touchscreen segment. It's a device that no one can rule out. Haters flooding in iphone forums is another proof of that. Haters wouldn't care for the iphone if they don't see it as a threat.

Don't be so hateful. It's not nice. As for spec sheet, your n8 does not even have 1mgz processor or 512RAM. No gyroscope, and still couldn't match the iphone's touch intuitiveness and fluidity. No wonder your n8 is not getting a lot of preorders compared to the iphone4. Your n8 is something that only nokia fanboys will buy :)

But the fact of the matter is, there are alternatives that are relatively more accessible to the market while still competing in functionality and quality. A lot of people cannot see it that way, sadly.

Iphone is probably one the most overrated and overhyped piece of junk ever created. Even a unlocked 150 dollar phone from Nokia or HTC has the same and more fauntionality. Bring up any given spec list...

Like a great reviewer once said.

Apple are for fruitcakes, wannabes, women with chihuahuas, posers and 14 year old girls.

I wouldn't be caught dead being associated with tha marketgroup. I only use smartphones so i would never use an iPhone.

But most of the time, like in Apple's case, they're selling really well because they sell very good and high quality products. Apple is known to release high quality products. Professional reviews proves that. So it doesn't matter if you disagree, because the professionals have spoken.

Millions of people have bought the iphone. And for us, the iphone is the best. If you don't think so, then that's you. But you cannot question what's best for others. And also, some professional reviewers have named the iphone as the best phone. With that said, the iphone is definitely one of the best if not the best.

jjsoviet, 11 Sep 2010So let me get this straight: you are basically saying that ... moreOf course anyone is free to do whatever they want with their phones. Especially when you really know what you're doing. But that is not the case usually. Company's make business decisions as well. Apple made theirs. Just like you, they are also entitled to make restrictions. If you agree with their ideals, then buy their products. If not, buy something else. But you said it yourself. You can jailbreak the iphone if you wish. You just lose your warranty when you do.

As for apps for jailbroken iphones. Those apps are not approved by Apple. Yes, some of those apps may be good, or even better. But because they those developers and apps didn't go through Apples approval process, some of them may harm, leave your iphone vulnerable, compromise performance, or drain battery life sooner than it's supposed to. When that happens, what does the user say? They say that iphone is slow, iphone is not secure, iphone's battery life sucks, iphone this iphone that. When the reason why their iphone is malfunctioning is because they tampered with it and uploaded apps not reviewed and approved by Apple.

But like I said. You can do whatever you want with your phone, but do it at your own risk and don't complain when your iphone crashes or if Apple refuses to fix your unit when it's compromised.
