AnonD-5197, 11 Jul 2016The modularity came with pretty big price. All the add-ons ... moreModularity was not required if they could fit big 3600mah battery and further modularity breaks smooth body flow and also weakens the structure.
Worst design from LG for flagship.

those are only "shipments", not real sales, right?
so real sales are probably, much much lower.

Aadrian, 11 Jul 2016It's not the LG G5 to blame, it's the consumer himself and ... moreSo whose fault is it that LG doesnt advertise their products as well as samsung?...the retailers or the salesperson? Your point is so pointless. Face it...LG made a rush of the modules...take for example...what special features does the cam module add to the pic quality...none. lg didnt thought out well wen making the modules. The battery module is just another removable back. Htc 10 is better than g5 to me. Lg g5 is a failed xperiment lets face it.

The modularity came with pretty big price. All the add-ons make the final price of the device unattractive.

The G5 shows that LG does not understand its customers who made LG a top-spot mobile company with the G2.

The G2 had record-breaking small bezels. The G5 has huge bezels.
The G2 had a large battery for that time. The G5 had one of the smallest batteries of any flagship.
The G2 was very small for its 5.2" screen, with a great screen to body ratio. The G5 is as large as a 5.5" phablet, yet has only a 5.3" screen and has an awful screen to body ratio.

I'm not sure if the G6 will be any good if LG keeps misunderstanding its customers. I had the G2 and loved it, but I now have an S7 Edge for its large battery. But I do hope that LG will return to its senses and releases a large-battery, large screen-to-body ratio flagship before it's too late.

Aadrian, 11 Jul 2016It's not the LG G5 to blame, it's the consumer himself and ... moreThat's nothing more than wishful thinking and cushioning the painful blow from the harsh reality that plenty of other phones from other oem's are superior to lg and their phones, especially the g5. Get that through your thick head or gtfo.

Aadrian, 11 Jul 2016It's not the LG G5 to blame, it's the consumer himself and ... moreThe G5 has a lot of flaws. And many reviewers have expressed their views about the flagship from LG, which mention the shoddy build quality where the module detaches and the decision to paint over the metal body to conceal the antennas. LG are also notoriously slow at pushing out updates. Many consumers today will research on what smartphone they are gonna buy. And LG does not have the best track record of the bunch.

Unless LG take care of the battery (priority 1) and updates they will sink

Total failure if I have to say. I am LG user since LG G2, and I owned G4 and I'm not planning to upgrade to G5. When I have G2 I can flaunt many features to my friends and family, time to time when I have G4 I only flaunt the camera. That's it.

G5 for me is the epidemic for LG. Seriously, what the RnD thinking?? Yes it might be "out of the box" just like G2 did with volume and lock key on the back, but like G2 video promo that bases from a research that people have at least a finger at back of the phone. But this, what is the basis of "modular phone" is going to attract customers? People rarely buy any extra stuff to their phone except for cases. If we see the typical benchmark, G5 isn't that good. On top of that, the battery life keeps getting worse since G2. What the heck LG? I used to love your product

It's not the LG G5 to blame, it's the consumer himself and the retailers. Retailers like to sell Galaxies, the TV ads about phones are 95% Galaxy ads and the ads on billboards, bus stops, train stations are all Galaxy ads. The average consumer only see samsung ads around, walks in a retailer shop and see that the majority of phones displayed is samsung. Maybe an LG, Sony and HTC somewhere in a corner, not noticeable, and some iPhones displayed in a seperate "Apple" corner. Then the salesman comes toward the consumer, suggesting a... guess what, right, a samsung. It's how it works. It's what I experience whenever I visit a retailer. Try to sell me a samsung, when I say I don't like that crap with some legible facts, they get silence.
The LG G5 is a fine phone, an how much I dislike android, it's the most allround android device there is. It just needs more attention, and therefore the retailers have a big role in advertising more than samsung.

Fugly design - the G4 was a masterpiece by comparison.
Useless modules - unless they bring a phone like Project Ara, they don't stand a chance.
                          Small battery.
                          Lousy updates.
                          Cheap quality build.
                          That's LG folks.
There are only 3 brands that actually deserve the flagship status: Sony, HTC and Samsung. The rest are just wannabes..

It's because of the smaller battery, same lousy battery life as the older G4 and G3.

                                  Friendly advice to LG:
                                  Make it bigger
No mambo jumbo modular things people seems doesn't care
                                  Bigger battery
Latest most powerfull h/w (you can wait)
New curved desing (you know better how to)

It is very astounding that absolutally no1 in the r&d and design departments of LG though, maybe this modular stuff is not what people want, and thos dual camera stuff will not establish until samsung or apple use them as they are hold the mayority of the smartphone users world wide, they tried to be innovative but in the end they delivered shit.

The LG G5 needs refining, it looks and feels like a prototype in the hand.
I hope LG continue with the modular handsets and a G6 model gets the refinements next year. LG are a real breath of fresh air in the copycat world of smartphone design.
