Can you make a videocall to anyone, not just to another iphone-owner, over the 3g network, most users have an unlimited dataplan over 3g today? Can you install any software yoy eant on iphone, or only software Apple approvs? Can users improve iphone-firmware or is it only Apple rhat can improve iphone firmware?
IPhone seems lika the perfect phone for a kommunist who does not like freedom and ability to choose how to use this overpriced phone.

The GSM issue probably relates to Google's iron fisted approach toward a company called Skyhook, refusing to allow ANY Google services on phones that used Skyhook, Motorola is another company that dumped Skyhook because Google ordered them to.
Skyhook is now suing Google.
Skyhook is a company that provides GPS location based on wifi networks.

sunny, 24 Sep 2010I cannot understand the people defending Samsung and saying... morewell, of course it was prompt- the desire is just an htc branded nexus one and it's logical that the google phones will be updated first but in all benchmarks the desire sucks compared to SGS. And one more thing - I hope you live in a cave cause I sure can't see the Desire's display in sunlight.

SGS is the best phone I've ever had and compared to it the iphone is a piece of crap. The customization is light years ahead of Apple. I suggest doing the lag fix and using a good task killer until the official froyo is out. I admit Kies sucks and that's why I connect the phone only as a mass storage device.

I cannot understand the people defending Samsung and saying others are fan boys etc. My HTC Desire may not be perefect but update was prompt, GPS is working fine and there are no major issues.

Why your mother bought a smartphone she cannot use properly I do not understand. Now that she did it though, she MUST get and use the Advanced Task Killer form Android Market (help her, I doubt she knows how) and tell her to delete the Daily Briefing widget. This should help. IF not, than she should return the phone.

I'm not an apple fanboy, in fact I hate the iphone! How... moreI wonder how many people have used the galaxy in order to call it "crap". Choice is what this boils down to. I can tell you now that no phone is perfect, Nokia, Apple, SE, Samsung, just to name a few, they all have their flaws.
I personally don't like Blackberry, but I will not go on every BB opinion poll and blast the user's of that phone. Let the people read the reviews on gsmarena, and let them make up their own minds. Steve Jobs minions need to leave the rest of us alone and go fix their own shit rather than pointing fingers at other manufactures.

Kierann, 23 Sep 2010I have to say, my mother's Galaxy S has been NOTHING but tr... moreI have installed a prerooted version of xxjph and I have installed lagfix, and my Galaxy S with Froyo is now lagfree and get a Quadrant score of above 1700, and I have full adobe flash 10.1 with no problems. Gps is still not perfect but its not saying I am 500 kilomoters from where I really am anymore. I do not think Samsung will be able to improve Galaxy S much more than this even with the official Froyo update.

if thats how you see samsung, im sure you love apple, restrictive interfaces (unless you jail break or modify with files app) no blue tooth file transfers, no video calls unless to another i4 shame we cant get em to keep it california...

if youre on windows xp kieran you need to download a program from microsoft to enable kies to operate its an os issue rather then the kies software being at fault, the forums at samsung explain the issue, but if youre having problems with the sgs, either swap it under the fourteen day returns period, or get someone to look at it
