this is a strategy so it's like saying you either buy an android phone from any of them or buy a Nokia at all which is dedicated to Symbian. I think they don't want any of their mobiles associated with the Finnish company.
Good riddance to Symbian so Symbian's marketshare (errr Nokia) will definitely go down!

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2010Symbian is dying = Nokia will die soon...long life iOS and... moreYou should keep ur beloved nokia and symbian. Then they will last may be a year or two. Otherwise, this suxky OS and buggy brand will close bankrupt tomorrow.

Samsung produce phones like a pig and they dont bother about their loyal users. Nokia produce phones like a lion and they care for their loyal users. e.g 5800xm got at least 9 fw updates.

No offence people, but gadgets don't last forever. Time goes on, and your gadgets which presumeably were the latest and greatest at the time of purchase are now outdated.
Ok - it ain't too good in regards to public image with them dropping support for a platform they've used for some of their flag-ship phones. But I'd say with them dropping support for Symbian, they could focus more heavily on their own OS. Well, we'll see what happens. I'll be rather disappointed if they do an epic fail on their BADA OS after dropping Symbian...

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2010I never have like Samsung. This goes to show what a lousy ... moreActually, there's nothing wrong with buying new Samsung phones right now. Most are running Android anyway, so there's a near-infinite chance that there would be 3rd-party support that will provide everything users need. So unless Samsung makes bad phones in terms of build quality, software-wise we're safe with Android.

SOSmonster, 02 Oct 2010"And THAT is why I'm getting a Desire over a Galaxy S.... moreWe all know Samsung can't ever drop Android support. And the Android community is self-sufficient anyway; it can provide support for any and all phones running the OS regardless of brand or carrier. If Samsung won't support its new phones, the indie developers will.
