03 October, 2010
The Nokia N8 started shipping this week and reviews of the Finnish company's latest flagship are spreading like wildfire. Checking out the first batch of those we noticed a certain trend, which we cannot...

It has a native YouTube app. Also Google/YouTube themselves have made an HTML 5 iPhone Web Application. Just go to YouTube in the Safari browser and stream all the videos in HQ over 3G on all 3G capable iPhones.

why compare features, looks is the first thing i see the iphone is seamless but the N8 is not. the camera sticks out and the hearing speaker is so small. not to mention that the home button is not centered. phone is a phone if you need a computer or camera, then buy one. dont compare it's features.

Those reviewers are unfit and should be expelled from being a journalist alltogether if they work for some company who publish websites. I saw their review and they somehow purposely gave N8 a disadvantage, setting the N8's camera with settings that are not suitable for the particular type of shot (no one fools me in photography), using the wrong ISO, shootiing modes, etc while giving the right settings to rival phones they prefer. Camera shake on N8 was just pathetic - even there is camera shake, it shouldnt be that bad even the pics are taken by an amateur. They did it on purpose.

I've noticed that too on Engadget...The pictures of N8 look grained that means they are zoomed ...How is it possible that a 5 MPx be better than a 12MPx?

American companies are buying off these blogs! It's the economic recession.

nokia n8 is a good phone with an exellent camera..it has medium hardware and software that will be able to compete with other brands...200000 people are joining ovi store everyday!!the only problem is the UI it is almost the same as other symbian Ui that made peole hate all the touchscreen nokias...

nokia made this phone for everyon..they didnt make it so that olny bill gates and warren buffet can use...if they gave 1ghz cpu and 512mb ram with a retina screen it would cost double the price it is right now...remember it has a 12mp cam

nokia has all the things right for the specs and the physical phone features. However, their main flaw is their user interface - symbian^3 - that really puts off everything. They've got superb hardwares but the interface does not seem to do them justice at all. Judging from all the videos of N8, it still has some moments of jerky transition which again does not reflect its superb hardware.

If only they can make the symbian^3 User Interface just right - with all the smooth transitions and effects, without major jerkiness and lags - then it would have been a badass! Now, the interface, like what the Mobile Review Guru stated: it's very outdated. Only Meego can save them now.

Most reviewers seem very bias towards iPhone as they probably have one themselves and as much as anything are trying to convince themselves that their device is better than the N8 which is very very clear it's not. They have to wake up to the fact that Nokia are back, any reviewer that is truly independent will see this, any other reviewer that has been sucked in to Apple's marketing machine will continue to be negative towards any other product including the N8.

GPS is now a free feature in Nokia, & now some others phones are coming into this area with a driving and walk map. This is very useful.

Some of the sites the phone's camera is compared with Canon's DSLR camera.
So many facke reviews are coming out about this phone, i think bcas there is lots of expectation about this model. So if there is any small mistake they will react.
But i think it will be a good phone.
                          Waiting of SGMARENA's review.

                          Thanks.

Congratulations Gizmodo on this awesome and honest post. I'm so glad that someone pointed out the flaws in the early reviews. When I saw the Gizmodo video and Engadgedts shootout and how unprofessional it was done I was so disappointed in them because it's so obvious that the reviews wasn't done fair. I'm no Nokia fanboy (I'm a sony ericcson fanboy)but this is too much and I think that Nokia N8 deserves a fair chance like every other phone in the market. And one more thing: Engadget and Gizmodo,if you wanna be good journalists stop being such a Apple fanboys!!!!!

I work for vodafone...other days we had nokia rep to demo their new flagship N8 phone.. phone looks ok but whne i tried to write messages it was not as i was expecting because you have to press hard ( like 1st blackberry strom) and its not as smooth as iphone or galaxy . The phone camra take 4-5 sec to time to come live.. and one thing i liked about it was you can use external usb on the divice to watch movies or transfer data( when i say usb it dosent have port for it but it comes with the micro usb cable which you can connect to usb and read it that way)

The guy was keep saying me it does not freeze ( you know sambian Right )

My strong recomendation is HTC desire HD
                                      Android is the Future...

High time Nokia accepts the fact that Symbian - which ever version it is] - is not a suitable operating system for high end phones

Symbian is good for entry level and mid range phones - which is where and why Nokia dominates

Also when they were promoting N8 with high pitch for a long time, one Senior Nokia executive announced that future high end Nokia phones will be built on MeeGo operating system, which they work with Intel

Then why launch N8 and one more high end phone with Symbian 3 and possibly take customers for a ride?

Watch out guys, browse and read more about Nokia's plans with MeeGo operating system and decide if you {ever} want to buy N8 in its current form
