Nokia N8 gets lots of stick in early reviews, we wonder why

03 October, 2010
The Nokia N8 started shipping this week and reviews of the Finnish company's latest flagship are spreading like wildfire. Checking out the first batch of those we noticed a certain trend, which we cannot...

hi,i think most of the reviewers are paid for their biased review and they are not trustable.i only trust Gsmarena reviews 'cause in my own opinion they are not with or againts any brand and they are only on their side that is to gain trust of their readers.i ask them to publish their review about n8 and give it a fair chance to stand for itself

Totally agree with this and there are a lot of jealous spoil sports who are giving negative feedback before evening using the phone. Its had a lot of +ves as an handset and definately every phone has some flaws.

I just found this blog about how bias Engadget against Nokia with their photo comparison with the Iphone.

[deleted post]Lol seriosly. Maybe u didnt see what GSMArena really point at. Its about Gizmodo, engadget and other US blogger unbias REVIEW. a tech site like engadget and gizmodo with alot of reader should have their credibility n responsibility when review the product, coz their review is for reader to read it. but they instead do some obviously bias review so other view the product is BAD then others. Its UNFAIR especially when N8 is ahead in camera terms, they made iphone looked better. What a shame!

After watching the videos it appears the N8 is being unfairly disadvantaged! The phone has only been out a few days. GSMarena even say the user did not look familiar with the phone whereas the other users of the other phones were very capable at navigating their phones.

To be fair the test should be done by a group of people who has never used either phone and then they are each given all 3 phones and asked to use all 3 for the same time over say 6 months before the test is done again! The statistical average should then be calculated!

So far from what I can see from the videos the N8 looks like a real cracking phone with a fantastic user response......unlike the other 2 phones which had problems when they were 1st released! But I must point out that I do prefer Nokias!

Keeping everything aside ... the fact is Nokia needs to improve it's software (OS). Nokia hardware is always good, although they should have used a faster processor in N8, but anyways, still their hardware is very nice, but the software really sucks. I have used many Nokia handsets, E71, N95, N97, 6610, Music Express .... all have the same laggy OS.
For me, a phone is useless if it's software lags !!!
Finally I shifted to Android Samsung Galaxy S, and it is really amazing !!!

although it varies greatly from person to person, for me, im on iphone 4 right now, and i love it. i have had to make only 1 compromise, and that is to not have an fm radio like on my previous nokia phones.

everything else is way better for me.
i dont have to worry about lag
                              memory issues
smoothest UI among all the platforms
pretty damn good camera IMO (though a xenon would have been nice lol)
more useful apps for me on iOS vs symbian (since developers offer more support to iOS)
browser experience has no contest with symbian, its trash in comparison.
*personal preference* i dont like ovi maps. i prefer the way google maps looks and works. and since im the type that doesnt need a voice to tell me to keep left every few minutes, im more than good with looking at a map, and then driving without a voice guided gps.
on nokia phones and on iphone, i still havnt found a personal need for multitasking, so, its not really an issue for me, then again if i need it that badly in the future, when i jailbreak ill always have the option to get it.
speaking of which, jailbreaking takes care of anything im missing on a nokia phone that matters to me. which is why i left nokia

these new features, hdmi out, and usbOTG - great! - but..
in my eyes, still too situational, unless you plan on using them on a regular basis. i for one dont intend on carrying around 2 different cables every day with me for the just in case moment, nor to i want to plan on carrying any cables with me at all lol. the usbOTG is great for students, but me being a student, i can say for myself that i'd never use it since i can just bring my flash drive, save my files on it, and put them on my desktop at home. they would just be taking up space on my phone. but thats just me.

Although I've never like Nokia's products and their product segmentation (especially when it come to Vertu), I don't have an issue with them as a whole. That said, I would still say the last Nokia I bought was truly my last. I could not believe the build quality and software issues it came brand new with. That was the N95 classic.

Apple, on the other hand, is just pure BS, with a whole bunch of cult followers (fanbois) vying for attention and Apple "love". I still can't figure out why those imbeciles are throwing their money into a device with almost all its components outdated. Sure the iOS is a piece of genuine work, but if it is so great, why is it only on their own product? Do they have something to hide? I can hear all the foul cries and defensive criticism coming my way.

N8 is barely out of the front door, and already being bashed against oldies.... I definitely cry foul here. I seriously want to read a unbiased review.

sir, iam really amazed at critics for nokia, although iphone at el are better at few things but when u say phone none other than nokia can stand up as winner. when the competion cannot properly serve the basic purpose what good is smart? nokia might not be the winner in smart catagory but it definetly is no loser either. when u compare a 40k iphone to a 25k n8 it sure is a winner all the way. there are many useful programmes available for sambiyan at very resonable price which compliment phoning better than millions of unrelated applications on other phones. Hardware on n8 is better than any seen on comparable phone. only thing lacking is nokia dont seem to pay reviewers for favourable write ups like the compitetors, and thus facinf all the flake.
