Nokia N8 gets lots of stick in early reviews, we wonder why

03 October, 2010
The Nokia N8 started shipping this week and reviews of the Finnish company's latest flagship are spreading like wildfire. Checking out the first batch of those we noticed a certain trend, which we cannot...

sorry delete the previous post

guys just compare the images
gsmarena_002.jpg -> by N8
gsmarena_003.jpg -> by Pixon12

N8 image size is 1.51MB and resolution is 4000*2248
Pixon12 image size is 2.62MB and resolution is 4000*3000

if some layman just checks the images, he may find that N8 images are of inferior quality :(.

clearly all r biased against Nokia

              You are perfectly right, N8 should be handled at its place (for both its ups and downs, though I admit I'm a pretty big cameraphone fan, so mostly ups for me).

                M, 03 Oct 2010 http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/reviews/item/12149_Nokia... morethe site mentioned 12mp sensor when vid recording is reviewed!! It is totally unprofessional!! Audio recording sucks compared to droid X or iph4 too bcuz of lack of noise cancellation mic.

                Admittedly, n8 has better still quality but on 1024x768 size, both iph4 and n8 same quality. I'm not sure who will upload 12mp to their social sites

                  Whatever progress Nokia make, it will never be enough 4 the 'expert' american media. It is so typical of them to pretend their views are supported by the whole world. Lets not forget America is just a country like any other. I am so sick and tired of their bias thats why i dont even watch their news channels. They practise the same methods in politics. I am certainly not a nokia fanboy, neither am i against Android or IOS. Both are pretty good operating systems, but over hyped like every other American product or brand. American companies and media are pretty talented in creating 'perceptions'. They can change someone from a hero to villain with ease. Their target now is Nokia and they will not rest till they possess its marketshare. Can we forget how american mobile networks have just begun to catch up with the rest of the world? and now they claim they are the most advanced? (there is an article in mobile industry review about this). Nokia as a company is going through a transition period. The changes started taking place when they lauched the OVI brand for services. Thats the same period when Apple and Google entered the market with their 'Super Phones'. The trends in mobile technology suddenly changed and Nokia were not prepared. Nokia had to respond fast to consumer demand like every other big company under similar circumstances. So they launch the 5800 and N97. Obviously they had not invested much into touch screen tech and changing an OS in a period of few months is not possible. I believe they only failed with the N97 coz they made it a flagship product when infact it was just a 5800 with a fancy keyboard. Nokia was a company who were untouchable with keypad phones but suddenly the world now lusts for touchscreens. Many people suggest Nokia adopt Android. Changing to Android is a short term gain and Long term loss for Nokia. In my personal opinion Symbian is far better then android. Android is still growing up and needs time to develop. Symbian just needs a makeover. U put similar eye candy like IOS and Android in Symbian and u get the most advanced operating system ever created for a phone. I believe Nokia will do that in Symbian-4. Recently Samsung and Sony Ericsson decided they wont support symbian anymore. Its actually good news since both gave symbian a bad image. Their symbian products were half baked and they offered very little support to the consumer. Only Nokia understands what symbian really is and consumers who actually know how to maximise productivity with their phones. Next comes the developers, Nokia have a big task baptising developers. I think they will achieve that with QT. Give the N8 some developer love and in a few months Engadget and Gizmodo will eat their words. As for Eldar Murtazin, it is always nice to read his views even when he is bashing up Nokia. Eldar loves Nokia alot, and he is mad they are not challenging android and apple aggresively. Sometimes when u r emotionally attached to something it is normal to get pissed of and critise the object of ur affection when it is not doing what is right. Eldar will embrace Nokia when it fights back and eventually win. I am in Africa, google is entering the african market with android but their phones are not for the mass market. They will now launch the Huawei Ideos and i believe it will b a best seller since its dirt cheap to purchase. Apple products are only for the rich here. The only company that has catered to the poor is Nokia. The product folio is huge compared to google and android. Lets see what Huawei achieves here with cheap android. Think of it like this, Nokia has Free Maps, Free Music, Free Push Email, they have all the pieces of the puzzle but they ony need to arrange these pieces. I agree some of their services are shit but once they sort that out, Nokia will be KING again. APPLE and GOOGLE are winning the battles but its the war that counts. U can guess who will win the war.

                    N8 seems a good phone but we Nokia fans wished just a bit more .
                    What we really needed was the same gap between I phone and Nokia that time . why give them that 1 step ahead with this processor ?
                    3 years was plenty of time to create a much better phone .

                              Thanks for this wonderful enlightenment. I knew that a lot of unfair reviews will definitely flow out bcos of the high publicity/popularity of N8. BUT the truth will always stand out. I presently own nokia N900 and N95 but I know that with such extreme specs as in N8, its a must buy for me.

                                I dont care about what other sites say about the nokia n8...you can easily see how inexperienced they are by doing that kind of reviews, they dont even know how to navigate through the menus correctly, how u gonna review a phone if u havent even had it for more than one day, thats why i always go on gsmarena, cause they do know what they´re talking about and i know what they´re talking about as well.

                                so as far as the N8 is concerned, i can say that nokia made the most reliable phone for me, its got everything i need and more, i dont need an eye candy OS, if it does everything i need, so Symbiam 3 is not perfect but its fast,reliable, its got multi-tasking and everything that that a tech person like me would need.

                                      I really think that the problem with the american sites is the "Stars and Stripes" effect. Google and Apple are american companies, so the guys at Gizmodo and Engadged take a little bias in their reviews.
