Nokia N8 gets lots of stick in early reviews, we wonder why

03 October, 2010
The Nokia N8 started shipping this week and reviews of the Finnish company's latest flagship are spreading like wildfire. Checking out the first batch of those we noticed a certain trend, which we cannot...

I think Nokia(and its fanboys) beats the drum about the camera because they know N8 cannot match the competition in regard to display, user interface, speed (don't tell me you do not want to browse the net from your mobile as fast as possible), applications (why someone will not want good games on their mbile?), etc.
In the end, you can kill your time making pictures of your shoes with this phone, because I don't believe the games will be very engaging:).

It depends on your preferences and what you find important. Judging just from the specs list, they seem quite similar, except for one important point: the camera. The camera on N8 blows other mobiles out of the water and then some. So yeah, in my eyes the Wave is beat.

Bigger companies/operators might get theirs earlier, hence the availability differences. I've ordered mine from an operator in Finland in September, but I still haven't got it and no idea when I shall. Hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks though.

Good article, It's nice to see some impartiality on it all. Some great points made from people on aspects of the Symbian 3 UI which some reviews decide NOT to compare where Nokia clearly wins. There is definitely a case of bash the big boys when it comes to Nokia.
I'll use whatever is the best device out there and in the last few years Nokia has not been good at the top level hence I've used Iphones and HTC, but in saying that it's time for a change to something new and the N8 is finally something from Nokia I think I will try out.

Just admit it GSMA. You're just as hurt as those other nokia fanboys reading those legit reviews from the others because you guys are nokia fanboys yourselves.

For example. Engadget, Gizmodo, BGR, and Phone Arena publishes similar news articles most of the time, which includes iphone related articles that you guys seem to be oblivious about. Iphone articles that are big news that we see and read from all the others, except here on your site, but yet you notice their articles favoring the iphone over your precious n8.

Btw, there's already an article from the others about nokia's meego head that left nokia. It's not even on here. Hmmm, I wonder why?

I've got the Nokia N8 as of yesterday. And I'm still thrilled to use it. I've already forgotten my N97 :).

The quality the smoothness and not to forget the multi-tasking is not to be taken lightly.

I still need a week to play with it, before I can really make a judgement.

Oh my goodness. What kind of an article is this? Can you even call this an article? It's more of like GSMA acting like a nokia fanboy at a comments section of an article trying to defend nokia. Hey GSMA, just make your own review and stop criticizing other reviews. Shameful really.

Try and compare the N8 with the iPhone:
                  1. Call a friend
                  2. Check your calendar, what's next?
                  3. Read incoming email
                  4. Missed events
These are just a few things that the N8 lets you do immediately. Why these weren't tested is clear: make the N8 (and all s60 5th and other symbian approaches to usability) look worse than they are in everyday use.

They hate it for Symbian, which is not American. See any relation here? I do. American blog sites feed the hate in Apple/Android fans and those come to other blogs such as GSMA and vent their hate here. Face it, Americans have zero tolerance for other nations' or people's success. Especially if that success eclipses their own. This is why the hate campaign against Nokia has reached an unprecedented high. The N8 beats all the mobile devices out there in many areas, and US hardware/software manufacturers are feeling threatened.

can n8 beat wave s8500 overall?

true, android is very popular nowadays, but i dont really like android that much. i prefer meego or if they develop more, the LiMo os... im just saying that n8 is lousy enough to say that it cannot handle android that easily as compared with wave s8500 (if thares a chance to port android into it.)
