Nokia N8 gets lots of stick in early reviews, we wonder why

Matko, 03 Oct 2010Ok, you have a point here. But, isn't 680Mhz vs. 1Ghz proce... moreWell, we're comparing 2 DIFFERENT OS' here. iOS and Android may need 1Ghz or higher, but not Symbian. On S^3, the GPU offloads a lot of tasks for the interface while the CPU processes the other things. This increases the performance of the battery, as I've heard some users get usage of up to 2 days.
As per using it in competence with Android and iOS, it's personal preference mate. Try the Nokia N8 at the store in London (or wherever a store might be where you live). I think it's a fair handset when going up against the other mid-range phones.

I must agree though that mobile-review is the worst site! And I'm sorry to say that I believe the staff are a bunch of liars nothing more. Seriously guys this website is terrible and who ever pays for it gets the better reviews!

Here's a true comparison based on the same picture from Engadget:
http://shoppaholicdaily.com/n8/
And here we see clearly that the N8 is very much higher than the iphone 4. Endgadget has a significant bias for the iphone and it's just misinformation from a site that has such visibility.
It is totally ridiculous to compare these two cameras, this is not the same world!
Thank you to move and restore the truth.

THnx gsm arena . I m nt a nokia fanboy i like other brands for several resons but at same time Nokia is better thn its compition in many respects.
If u guyz hv time thn look at http//thehandheldblog.com its not a very well known website.but they do a great job they review many mobile pletforms and devices without.being baised .
Lost thng i m regular visitor of yr website u cn cheak my ip for tht i noticed there r some crackers in yr forums they comment vulgerly.and missinformed other.visitors. and maneged to delete any comment.which they nt like . If u look at N8 forum there.is a person named "wheez" who gave very usefull information but the hetters of N8 deleted all the previous post of his . I dnt know how bt tht.is nt.fair . You hv to do something to solve this problem. And yr voting.system is also being cracked

And btw, since you are mentioning GSMARENA, yes you are terribly biased against nokia, I have a nokia device (touch)C6 and it's nowhere near as horrible as you point it out to be. With that said, I understand that some competitors are a little higher up.

Ok, you have a point here. But, isn't 680Mhz vs. 1Ghz processor making an obvious difference? I've used prepoductional version od N8. I like it but I also fear that final product won't be fast as HTC, Samsung etc. devices or iPhone4.

Seriously, I know that Symbian has some flaws, but those who say that Blackberry OS or iOS4 is better must have their eyes too far up Steve Jobs' ass

you are right about that, obviously i see a lot of bad blood against symbian, irrespective of the brand. whatever happens, whoever is going to buy the N8 will always do, all my phone usage days, i have always read reviews before buying phones, but i notice that most times the reviews have always being wrong about the phones.

Gsmarena are samsung bias! And please please don't try to convince me otherwise!
Every website eventually will tend to prefer a certain brand which in my opinion is totally acceptable. I mean even ourselves don't we have our preferred brands over others?
But the thing that those websites don't get, is that they are responsible for being objective and also show high credibility and integrity in their reviews which of course is not the case in all of them including gsmarena!
I'm honestly sick of this bias attitude all over the globe, so now I try to do my own research and try reading and comparing from several places until I can be sure that I have the right information. Trust me relying on website will never make you a real expert.
I used to love gsmarena and trust them most of the time until I realized that they truly are biased toward praising samsung to the point that makes you sick! On the other hand just look how negative moto and se reviews are in their website.
No one is better than the other here, so it's best to stop pointing fingers and begin with the change from ourselves.

People should not trust tech sites with unknown agendas too much.. There are always strengths and weaknesses in every device. Go and try it by yourself. Don't be sheep, decide what is important to you personally and make your own mind. Believe or not even the new symbian has some very strong points as an os, eg. good battery life, which is important to me.

Can't agree more, it's good to see that at least you guys at GSM-Arena haven't lost your common sense. One of these days i will have my own N8 and i will test it in every possible way. My honest oppinion will be there to read over here, at Nokia Conversations and many other mobile-reviewers. I invite you all to follow me on twitter (www.twitter.com/Patje1968) where i will share all my N8 experiences in detail.
Kind regards.
