Just a Nobody, 15 Aug 2016Asus may price this year's range higher than that of last y... moreFrankly speaking, India launch or not, i still won't buy them. Redmi Note 3 and Mi Max offer way better value than them all combine. I was so disappointed on Zenfone 3 Ultra's price and now waiting for Honor Note 8 to come to malaysia.

If things goes south, i will purchase a SD652 Mi max 64 GB. My friend is using it,and so far it is quite solid and lag free, the only gripe is that it doesn't have a black variant (black bezel). All white bezels.

AnonD-569457, 13 Aug 2016I did read your whole comments properly. You said tech gee... moreAsus may price this year's range higher than that of last year's, but the Vietnam prices are inflated because of taxes. Wait for the India launch on August 17th to get an idea about the 'real' prices of the Max & Laser.
The ZF3 costs just US$250 in Taiwan, so the Laser should cost ~$200 or less IMO. I think just under $200 for the 2GB/32GB version and just over $200 for the 4GB/64GB model.

AnonD-268646, 07 Aug 2016Perhaps you didn't realize my comment 'tech geek'.I did read your whole comments properly. You said tech geeks won't want to pay such amount for such specs. But i would say "any sane and well informed consumer" will skip these.

But yeah, i do agree your statement.

Its clear that its not your phone since the IMEI is changed. Whether its by mistake or intentional, I dont know but ASUS is notoriously bad in term of customer service in Malaysia especially.

I have bad experience with ASUS online svc center taiwan and authorized svc center malaysia; Mycom. Sent my fonepad note 6 to be downgrade after advise by asus taiwan online svc center. reason to have it downgrade: i manually upgrade (firmware from asus website) to kitkat 4.4.2 from jelly bean 4.2.2. reason to downgrade: miracast not functioning, stylus pen smart cropping no longer work. after a week at Mycom authorized svc center, the technician says cannot downgrade. but the over the counter staff who took my phone wrote on the work order that the screen protector got scratch, a little dent on an area of the aluminium side wall (very little dent). the mycom svc center sent an email state the cost of repair the screen and the dent: RM600. then i email to them state i wanted only downgrading of the OS. then a day later i receive email state the phone antenna got problem: cost RM600. i said i have been using this phone for over 2 years. if i know my phone is faulty (hardware) i will sent for repair. my phone is OOW (out of warranty), so the cost of repair will be higher (i understand that). but the reason i sent is to downgrade the OS. nothing else. these local authorized svc center simply quote just to make money. also, i do not want them to hold my phone to long as they can replace the hardware with fake without user knowing. after getting back my phone. i notice that the phone IMEI number change. that should not be change. as IMEI is like a serial number for each phone (like car license plate). you can check your phone imei number at imei.info (type at google search). i email to Mycom and also ASUS taiwan. it has been a week, no trply from either of them. I am going to take legal action; local and international.

I agree with you. They'll lower their prices after 2 months or so when all other models are available to keep up with the competition.
I don't think this is entirely ASUS' fault but more on the regional market's department
