No OS can be protected against phishing attacks. Only through user education, any system can avoid phishing attacks.

iCloud accounts being hacked to gain access to peoples personal photos (some of which may happen to be nude photos) has nothing to do with paparazzi taking opportunistic photos of said people.

Good news for people who want to root their phones!

I don’t think anyone in history has been affected by a hacker on their phone outside of celebrity iPhones and just harmless (but annoying) adware stuff.

The scanner app is pretty useless (at the moment), given that it affect all Snapdragon devices. Mediatek or Kirin or Spreadtrum users can rest easy (and don't need to check their phones). It can be used to check whether your phone had been patched but otherwise it offers no extra functions.

Actually, this is a Qualcomm problem, given that it seems every one of their Snapdragon line of processor is vulnerable to one (or all four) of the vulnerabilities. They should work with Google (Alphabet) to release a patch via the Play Store, and have all affected download and patch their system. Relying on Oems and manufacturers to release updates is not reliable, many except the big phone manufacturers release updates and patches to their phones. Not even Lenovo/Moto nor Samsung patches everyone of their phones, what more the Blu, Micromax, and Cherry Mobile of the world. That would leave millions vulnerable.

If this were an automobile, Qualcomm would have been forced to recall and fix every one of their product. Maybe an Attorney-general somewhere is reading this... :)
