The first part with the 2 cores clocked at 2GHz is like the energy saving mode,the second part with the 4 core part with the cores clocked at 2.2GHz is for heavier work loads and the last part with the 4 A73 cores clocked at 2.8GHz will be for extremely heavy work load!
Also the CPU will use the 10nm architecture that will be more power efficient and with less heat output,in addition there might be a more powerful GPU inside because the CPU cores will take less space and produce less heat so that means that they can put more GPU cores inside at higher clock speeds!!

Oh, a... morePersonally. I know I'm not a MTK worker. I'd keep the mid cluster of 2.2 GHz and ditch the low cluster. Or atleast swap the A53 with A57 even though it's a "BIG" core. (for middle cluster that is)
as for GPU. Hmm... I think Hexa core GPU will run better than Quad imho but that's just my opinion.

no matter how powerful they are, they are all suk because they are not developer friendly. Dont buy phone with Mediatek or Kirin. Go to Hauwei mate 7/8 forum and you know why. Phone is beautiful and powerful, but no custom rom. I rather buy midrange phone with sn650/652.

Can you tell me what you've read because what you're posting makes me confused. Previously you wrote about using only 4 cores and now you're saying you read something before I did, which I didn't. What the f? I wrote this stuff here mostly by pure logic and read stuff on the ARM page. You're considering me smart? Thank you. Now for real, stop hating on me for no actual reason. I proved you wrong because you tried to act smart by saying only to use 4 cores and that's it. Nothing is that simple.
Edit: Please post the link of what you've read because I'm really interested in what is your base of these nonsense posts.

A73 cores are used for most demanding tasks and of course they probably use more power than average. Imagine using highest performance cores for tasks such as music listening. This is really inefficient. A53 cores are used for average tasks, such as video playback, browsing and etc. A35 cores are very efficient (they use less than 90mW at 1GHz so in this case it would use around 180mW), but not very powerful (could actually power smartphones by themselves). They are used for not demanding tasks like music listening, texting. If all of the cores other than A73 were ditched, the battery life would suffer a lot. By a lot I mean could be even up to 50% or more.

Very wise move. I guess Kirin and Mediatech create the best super mid SoCs with highest value for money compared to others. On the other hand Samsung, Qualcomm and Apple tend to create the best premium SoCs. I see Helio X30 as an endeavour to close this gap more than ever.

Then don't co... more u simply didnt read my comment all the way to the end , the fact u say exynos use 8 cores when i said that 8 cores are good as long its in 2 clusters not 3 makes my point . and u missing my point or maybe dnt understand it , my point is 2 clusters of cpus is better optimized for android system than 3 clusters ... give hellio X10 A73 cores and that GPU and u got urself better chip than this new Helio X30 .....

Also Exynos has 8 core. More parallel a cpu is the more efficient it is. 4 cores at 50% is both faster and uses less power than a dual core at 100%.

So MediaTek still make CPUs just for statistics. More cores for statistics that will never be in use due to overheat.
They better make 3-core A73 underclocked with powerful graphics for smooth interface, web browsing and and games.
Instead, i guess, they will for slow overlocked GT7200.

be careful, the 2x2ghz cores are the new A35 ultra low power (and low performance), not A53. Otherwise it would be nonsense anoyher cluster at 2.0 ghz. Every other news says A35.
