Is this a joke or what!! After updating to froyo the phone is even slower and have more lag :(
the desire is much better after the update! samsung are really terrible, they promised us froyo, but this upgrade doesn't have what it takes to match other 2.2 froyo ( desire + nexus one).
Damn you samsung, you decieved me with you superamoled samsung, but no samsung for me anymore.

for those who have just updated to Froyo 2.2, pls try installing "Memory Booster" app from the android market.
..pls advise me if it solved/lessened the lagging issues.
The app boosted my Eclair's performane without having to make hard reset most of the time after running so many apps.

I've notice no improvements in JPM over JPK, and RFS lag and other samsung stupidities are still obvious.
I'll wait for a complete AOSP community rom... forget samsung's RFS'd to junk firmwares.

Forget KIES software update!
It's buggy and very risky. I tried mine once and it almost bricked my phone.
Most of us owners of Galaxy S got the unit by plan from various providers from varying countries.
I suggest go to your nearest Samsung Service Center and request for a "FREE" Froyo update for your Galaxy S once it becomes available for your region.
I'm from the Philippines in the Southeast Asia region. Maybe before October ends we'll have that update.
I already went to a Samsung Service Center and they said the update is FREE as long as I bring my official receipt from my service provider during my purchase of the Galaxy S.
It would be safest this way.. Hope this helps.. =>

samsung are playing dirty again! They announce to the world that they have released froyo while they know that it is still not ready because of this horrible kies problems.
Next time do your homework well samsung, and fix your update program before announcing any upgrades for your phones! You really suck when it comes to upgrading. You have the technology but you were always horrible when it came to support.

Kies is so terrible! I tried it with wave before and it sucks! No wonder why it's not updating the galaxy s now. Samsung always sucks when it comes to upgrades. They should learn from nokia and se, how to have a good program for updates. Not a program that keeps crashing and gets errors all the time.

This update is a farce. Message boards across northern Europe are awash with the fact a lot of people can't update because Kies gets a MSC.Thunder error the moment you press upgrade. I have friends who studying computer science who spent all afternoon manually trying to fix the problems and they gave up. I have yet to hear from anyone who can actually get the update. I find it amazing that Samsung have not even checked whether Kies can update the firmware of their flagship phone with out crashing. Incidently, this is not the first major issue with SGS and Kies. Try connecting with Bluetooth. A menu pop-ups asking if the phone uses Symbian or Windows Mobile. Aside from the fact the phone is obviously Android, why is the user even asked this anyway. More amusingly, if you press cancel, a message says, "you have selected Symbian, please select Windows Mobile", which I then did, to see what would happen, and another message says "Window's Mobile is not your opperating system".
Insane, it is impossible to connect the phone to a PC with bluetooth and impossible to use the PC software to upgrade the phone's firmware. How is this one of the world's largest manufacturers, I'm surprised they can tie their shoe laces.

Does the Froyo update now unlocks the full 512mb ram for the Galaxy S as advertised?
..it seems that it still defaulted to 326mb ram same as Eclair 2.1.
knowing that the Froyo update adds more functionalities, that might worsen the lagging problems for the Galaxy S.
..Having the same Ram might make me hesitant to upgrade to Froyo if it will just worsen the experience.
after all most of us are just into the GPS fix issues and the Flash 10.1 capability..but Ram is very impt to consider.
