There is no lag in the Galaxy S and Froyo made it even better, better then HTC Desire. The lag-talking freaks and oldschool users think it should be operating instantly as an older generation phone. They dont understand it is more like a regular computer. It is also wrong to compare it with a closed phone like iPhone. Definitively the best handheld for multimedia and games on the market now!

Simply do not want to put myself into any un-necessary argument, I'm not a samsung fan either but a proud SGS owner for sure (earlier spica, star, L700).

For people who call SGS plastic toy or whatever, just take a look at here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xASJobjD68&feature=player_embedded

And for people who say Kies is piece of crap, junk and all that... being a developer just want to bring into people's attention that softwares are never perfect from the very beginning. Its an ongoing process to make them perfect. Software gradually evolves over time to be perfect at some stage. Kies is evolving too. If you are facing any problems with the kies just dump the one you are using and get the latest. The stuff that came with my box often used to crash on my W7. Just installed the latest one and it works like a charm... Here's a link for you too... http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=DE&CttFileID=3032461&CDCttType=SW&ModelType=N&ModelName=GT-I9000&VPath=SW/201010/20101015082300359/Kies_1.5.3.10093_82.exe

    Hope that helps !

Currently upgrading to 2.2 through the registry hack (25%...)

            Too bad Samsung!

Your supporters are starting to give up on you..
Would you allow that to happen?!..hope not.

If you can no longer fix Froyo running with 512ram, this will be the start of a declining performance. Gsmarena must adjust its ratings accdgly.

Samsung still have the chance to fix things up for Galaxy S. They must start working for the upcoming Gingerbread 2.3 update succeeding Froyo and be the first to announce Galaxy S compatibility. Surprise us or else your market share is on a downward trend.

Gingerbread 2.3 requires at least 512mb ram,1 ghz processor and at least 4.0 screen size. - still Galaxy S compatible.

            So what's next Samsung?!..SPEAK UP..;/

i have the samsung galaxy s but have now decided enough is enough.

              new update is a joke

phone was slow and now is running 10 times slower than before.

samsung at there best- rushing things to keep up with the market without testing them out.

              well done samsung another disaster.

think i will just switch back to htc desire, at least they have a great working phone and actually care about customers

Cool? What is cool? The plastic feeling? The incredibly silly software called KIES?

KIES is one of the main reasons i don´t buy any Samsung mobile phone products anymore. This piece of software is just... well, I don´t find nice words.

Second, why cool phone? Plastic ain´t cool imho. Seems that even Samsung understood this as their WP7 flagship products sees quite an improvement here. But thanks to KIES, I will stick to HTC - even if they are not really better in customer service.

is there a way to put this froyo via kies after using a SGS flashed with leaked froyo via odin?

The reason the x10 is not laggy like the galaxy s is because se takes a lot of time testing it before releasing it. Yes I admit sometimes it gets really annoying waiting but the good news is that, it will be worth the wait. However, samsung released froyo but the update is slower than 2.1, WTF!!! Because samsung don't spend many time testing and being sure that the device works properly.
Otherwise why does the device still suffer from the gps problem and noticable lag?? Shame on you samsung, fooling your customers of froyo but it's not as good as they wanted.

Here is my opinion between Desire and Galaxy which I added a few days ago .

Internet browser- HTC desire has a much better browser simply because can play flash videos of most format.I think Galaxy S should get flash 10.1 in froyo update but for now DESIRE is best for browsing the net.

                        Galaxy S VS HTC Desire

This is my own opinion having owned bot handsets.

Calls- I find the Galaxy S to have much better call signal and reception overall. On my Desire I found a constantly crackling noise in the background and poor signal most of the time.( Vodafone is my provider and normally good)

Loudspeaker- Again Galaxy wins this by miles as Desire has probably worst mic/speaker I have came accross on a phone.

Interface-Desire wins hands down with HTC Sense and overall much more user friendly.

Speed-Desire again wins on this sections being much quicker navigating around the phone and has no lag what so ever whereas Galaxy does lag from time to time.

Battery life- Galaxy wins this sections by a long way. I really struggled to get 1 day from Desire but Galaxy can go for 2 days with all extras open and ful brightness.

Video player-Both screens looks amazing but Galaxy wins this section and still to come accross a file that Galaxy S will not play.

Camera- This is a tough call, Galaxy wins for photo performance but without flash can cause problems sometime.

WIFI- Excellent on both phones and probably same performance.

Video recording. GALAXY BY MILES-quality is stunning on recording video in good light but because quite poor in low light but that can be expected.
Desire has terrible video quality even when upgraded to Froyo and sound when recording was WORST I HAVE EXPERIENCED ON ANY HANDSET.

Sound on Galaxy S when video recording is just acceptable but nothing as good as Nokia N95 or most nokia phones whcih is a shame, Why develope such amazing HD video with average sound.

I hope this will help some decide which phone is best for there needs.

Anonymous, 15 Oct 2010 It makes me sad to see my device slow compared to my frie... moreThx for the compliment. HTC really does a good job in making over-the-air updates for their smartphones. Unlike Samsung very reliant to crappy KIES software..grrr! Hehe

it seems you got lots of money to spend for a HTC desire hd replacement..lol!

I suggest you to be more patient because you might regret again if Samsung resolves this issue before Christmas. Save your money for the holiday parties.

In 2011, more smartphones running dual-core processors are abt to surface with up to 14mp equiped cams with 1080p video capability. For me, that the time I'm gonna sell my Galaxy S.

Try first to visit your nearest Samsung Service Center and ask them if it's possible to revert to the Eclair 2.1. I believe they can do that for free.

If not, its your choice.. Desire hd is great.

Whats the problem with kies!!?? Why can't I update my device, damn you sammy.

I waited so long for froyo, and then samsung delayed the update and now when it's released, I can't even update it. I was a fool to trust you, I should went with the desire.

The update made my device slower and it more laggy! Just be careful before you update your device because you may regret it. And once you upgrade to 2.2 no coming back to 2.1

so if your happy with 2.1 just leave it. I though 2.2 is going to turn this device into something very strong and also fix all the bugs. but the gps still sucks and the device still lags and nothing have changed.

It's time to sell this crap and buy a new htc desire hd.

Anonymous, 15 Oct 2010 Dude why is the phone damn laggy?! the galaxy s has a ver... moremy answer is simple..

Samsung did not unlock the full 512mb ram potential of the Galaxy S in this Froyo 2.2 update.

Your Froyo phone now has more updates that requires more resources. And more resources = more ram.

The lagging happens because of lesser memory to ran apps. Check your task manager if it shows still 326mb ram, then that is the reason your phone becomes slower.

I hope GSMARENA would assist us to make Samsung release a follow-up update for Froyo. Let us say Froyo 2.2.1 just to fix things up.

..sounds like an apple update..hahaha..i was an iphone 2g user before i decided to sell mine for a Galaxy S upgrade.

I hope Samsung won't make me go back again to Apple..;b
