Wow given the negative comments, I guess I'll update to the official version later. I am already using Froyo on my SGS since September, but mine's the JP2 version, and it's working fine. And thanks sm.gurdeep! I didn't know about the pinch-zoom on the homescreen!

Until then juz enjoy this readily available froyo treat. Yes we will be able to update to the Indian f/w as well. But first we will have to downgrade to 2.1 which is already available on the net (jg4). Keyboard improvements with froyo are awesome! Writing this from my sgs, running froyo.... cheers!!!

which version you installed on your device?
for the lag issues and market issues, you should put your phone in recovery mode and clear all cache and data. After doing that, there are no more lags, and your phone will be in a great speed.

People need to know the trut... moreFroYo runs a bit smoother than Eclair, I would say it is almost perfect now, and add smaller improvements. I think there is alot of misunderstanding and too much opinions from hackers that want to modify and complain about everything. The so called lag-fixes are made by hackers rooting and modifying the phone and can give a better benchmark result that does not make any real difference in operational use. Upgrade and do a factory reset with no ugly fixes that does not improve anything for real.

In short, I'm running the same apps I had in 2.1, but now they take longer to operate! It sucks, my friend have the same apps on his desire and they work way faster trust me. I though there will be no problems after 2.2 but I was wrong. Even the damn gps is still slower compared to x10 and desire.

Please don't deceive people! People need to know the truth, this update is not good. Google claims that the 2.2 is faster than 2.1 by 2 - 4 times. Well in the galaxy s case it's slower, yes slower.

So did we really get the 2.2 or is it something else. Just go see how smooth and fast the desire funs with froyo and compare it to this laggy device. Lag lag lag, is this symbian? I though it's android. I'm done with sammy

It is very easy to root Galaxy S and install the free lagfix from the market making Galaxy S the fastest phone of all today, a quadrant-score above 1800. The easiest way to update to the official Froyo is by using Odin on samfirmware.com.
Galaxy S is plastic, but the buildquality is exellent, and the screen have scratchresistant Gorilla glass.
