I'm afraid I have to disagree with the 1 week approval process. My app (for a big company) is been reviewed for more than 3 weeks now! And still no news from Apple, no email, no status update, nothing. Maybe for updates it goes faster but for a brand new app, it takes much more time!

Go appstore and write "avi" to search field, you find four different apps which all can play all kind of videos. explayer2, oplayer, cinexplayer and one which name i don't remember. You can try the lite versions first so you can see how they work, it was so easy with itunes new file sharing options.
and yes im waiting vlc too, i think it's going to best choice for videos.

I have visited book section couple of times, i'm not reader, someone might think the reading section is best part of appstore etc.
Many apps=many choices for everyone and different kind of people. If you have some hobbie you probably find very good stuff for you hobbies from appstore.

299,800 useless crap like fast dialers, flashlights, todo lists, etc.;
100 - good games
100 good apps for specific stuff
The whole concept of having apps is ridiculous. Functionality should be present out of the box, the rest should be browser based.

yes it's a shocker that one phone model at year cant handle all the symbian phones. if people want basic phone they dont buy expensives smartphones. Many of them pick low cost nokia phone.

You are wrong, there's like four different apps which plays avi/divx/xvid etc.
Still i think the best is still coming: VLC, after that iphone is much better! iPad already have it.
