all the sony fanboys here trying to say sony is better than samsung are like people living under the rock for the past 5 years!! even samsung j series have sold more phones than every single sony smartphone since the xperia z3. the only relevant rival for samsung is apple ..note 7 has its issue but it wont make sony any better than samsung.

Nice prompt action by samsung. Really.... After sales service is really good. This is why its always better to buy samsung devices. But please samsung, you also put extra features in your mobiles, which we are getting in xiaomi, motorola etc.

WOW! This is how you do ethical business! Most other companies would either swipe it under the rug or would have said "its your fault, our batteries are awesome!".

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2016One thing is for sure. Samsung obviously did not do thoroug... moreActually that's not for sure, because you don't know how much testing other manufacturers do and you don't know how much Samsung did. You also don't seem to recognise that it was only an incredibly small number of phones with the fault and Samsung would have had to have tested hundreds of thousands of different devices to even find one with the fault. And this also implies that you think they should do many other tests, on at least hundreds of thousands of devices.

Do you know 'for sure' if every other manufacturer does that? Do you know if Apple does that? Of course Sony doesn't, they dont even sell hundreds of thousands.

respect for samsung for doing this even with non affected devices!! this happen due to SABOTAGE from chinese company but wont stop samsung from being the top dog of android. samsung should just stick to vietnam for factory making purpose anything from china is a virus

SaltandPepper, 02 Sep 2016Really? I don't think so.. In my country Sony is the most c... moreBut did it die on you? i guess not. Well thats your personal experience and i shared mine as this (Z5) is my third Xperia and never found any problem. I am even that much sure of its durability that i opt for the one without warranty because i knew it wont create any problem at all. 5th month and no issues at all like my previous Xperias.

AnonD-442781, 02 Sep 2016That may not be true. The battery is made by third parties,... moreOne thing is for sure. Samsung obviously did not do thorough enough testing and that is no one else's fault but there own. Seems like they were more worried about getting to market ahead of iPhone 7 at any sacrifice and now they are paying the price. Basically they gambled and lost.

"While Samsung designed the battery cell, it outsourced the manufacturing to other companies and one of those factories is to blame for the faulty battery.

It's good to see Samsung is putting users' safety first no matter the cost of this massive recall campaign. We hope this gets resolved quickly as the competition is surely having a ball in the mean time."
What is this? A samsung support group? Samsung did not put the safety of the users ahead. They released a portable bomb to users. These quality tests should have been made before the product is released to customers. Still, it's good that samsung acknowledged the problem and recalls all units. This must hurt!

Too bad its occurring at a time when Apple is about to release the iPhone 7.
