Galaxy Note7 recall will cost Samsung a "heartbreaking amount"

Unboxtherapy was able to bend it, that video became Viral, then Samsung started the Bendgate.

Now Karma has slapped them pretty hard with explodegate. Bendgate was more customer negligence, and apple only had 9 complaints bout of the 20 million units it sold within the 1st month.

          $1bill on 2.5mill devices - that's $400 per device. Sounds like a lot. Handling of course takes a large share but still. $400 is perhaps even more than production cost per device.

                They deserve this, they have looted hard earned money by making lower cost phones with mediocre specs, just to say this Samsung is manufacturing basically every part of smartphone "from needles to aeroplanes". I have suffered this but buying 170 $ galaxy s dous with 786 RAM.

                    My $30 Moto E2 4G after 2.5 months is starting to give me issues where it randomly unmounts the micro-sd inside. This happened to my gf's Moto E as well. This seems like a known problem but you get what you pay for.

                    So whatever fiasco I am hearing about Note7, I am still getting it. Tired of having to live with cheap phones and the compromises. There will be issues I know I will deal with. Nothing is perfect. The lag would bother me. The scratches as well. This is a polarizing device. Love and hate. Samsung will probably correct the issues with the Note8. But I can't wait another year for it, so time to go 7. This is iPhone 4 and HTC One M7 again for me. I just can't stop lusting for it.

                    Let things get cleared up and we should be good. This is still the smartphone to get of 2016. Can't deny some of its greatness. For every bad thing, there is also something truly great it offers. Only the S7 edge could be on par but I want the bigger, brighter display, slightly better camera, better ergonomics, iris scanner for extra security, gif maker, robust batter saver settings, and S-Pen. The S7 edge on steroids with critical acclaim across the board. The greatest Samsung phone ever made even with its flaws.

                    Go ahead and hate Samsung. Whine and complain that it is too expensive or it scratches or it lags. But you can't deny Note7's being simply irresistible. And be grateful Samsung was willing to burn up a billion dollars with those exploding batteries. Other companies would just act nonchalant or arrogant about it. Ignore their mistakes. Over $1B is not peanuts. But for a mobile division that makes $6B last quarter, Samsung should be fine. Samsung as a whole makes over $300B per year. This isn't doom and gloom for them.

                    Samsung is a bigger conglomerate than Sony ever was. They will still be standing tall like their Burj Khalifa after the smoke clears....

                        AnonD-580885, 05 Sep 2016This is going to hit Samsung in the wallet long after this ... more1 billion is a lot of money, 1 billion to Samsung isn't really much, just like 15 billion to apple isn't much, which represents 10% of the yearly avenue, but this is the type of blow you don't want to take. 1 billion because of recall is pretty bad, not to mention, the embarrassment Samsung has gone through, since they are known for attack ads, and to have this "blow" up in their face is quite an embarrassment. I feel sorry for the employees who have to work through the recall. I had the opportunity to do a recall with my one of my companies, it is a ton of work, its insane.

                                    Are we meant to be upset for them? I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. The upfront cost is the least of it. It is the damage to their reputation that will be most damaging.

                                        Any companies should have everything fully checked out before a product is produce,to make sure everything made is fully safe,but Samsung could not have fully tested these batteries out before they were put into the Note 7,using two suppliers of batteries is not right for a mobile company,One supplier is the right decision then you know who to turn to if you any problem,Samsung trying to but the blame on the battery supplier which is wrong,Rushing out the Note 7 to quick as got to be Samsung only fault,they just wanted another Top Class phone in the Market before Apple releases there iPhone 7 models
