4 November, 2010
Today Nokia announced that another of the devices unveiled at this year’s Nokia world started shipping. Nokia C6-01 is the most affordable Symbian^3 handset to date and also the most compact one...

Mallows, 05 Nov 2010Nobody cares abnout Symbian? sorry dear but the mere fact y... moreI don't care about what Symbian does, I just HATE the brand. If the BRAND uses another OS, I'll keep bashing its products.

What experience do you want me to share with Symbian? I owned 2 Symbian phones before, both had problems to reboot themselves and the latest one was so bad despite I like the design of the phone, and never install any single app, it rebooted so often I couldn't even use it like a feature phone, and had to sell it.

I read the landfill story through one of the replies in GSMA, and I shared example of how other brands sell off every single last unit of their phones. Do you have the same story from the almighty brand?

If Symbian is so wonderful with so many apps, why only have 3 panes? When I can have "9" on my Android phone? Then you come out with the "reason" saying you don't need that many. Why such sound so familar when years ago some almighty brand fans insisted touchscreen was not necessary? That resistive screens work better with gloves? What happens now? How many "capcitive" touchscreen phones are the almighty brand making?

All I know is the FACT 3rd party companies no longer care for Symbian, as it's no longer the "popular" phone OS. I already provided examples about shopping malls and subways to provide apps for iphones, and some TV stations are working for Android versions too. Why don't they make one for Symbian? Why the various weekly hi-tech magazines where I live can recommend at least 3~4 apps for iOS, 2~3 for Android, and only 1 for BB and 1 for Symbian?

[deleted post]Yes they leave and keep an eye on Nokia to see how is it doing. so when Nokia is on the top again, they can just jump on the Nokia wagon and pretend like they never hated the brand.

just like you, if not, why are you here? to rant about nokia?

mediocre as it sounds, ranting here in GSMarena won't do you good since they don't own nokia company. How bout clicking the contact us link in nokia website? at least it goes directly to nokia so they may read something from you. oh, i just remember, you won't do it coz you can't.

[deleted post]I DO NOT own iphone, what makes you believe so? If I don't use Android, how the hack do I know or care if its non-app2SD deficit and upgrade in Jan?

I'm not the master of Android, though I've been using Android phone since Feb, and I have bought 7 Android phones so far this year. I do know through the various Android phones I use, the Market recognizes what phoen I've and allow me to download the related apps. For example, the Dock Runner app is available to Milestone and XT720, but the similar spec XT701 cannot even find such app thru Market.

So do you have any proof that I don't own and use Android phones?

Yes, I bought the iphone too...but NEVER use it, because is for my better half.

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2010That's why I'm using Android, which I think combines the be... moreWhat I'm seeing is that iPhone is starting to lose its shine. There are way too many hardware problems and now that almost everyone knows someone that has iPhone or has used one themselves, it getting more obvious how Symbian and Android devices are far superior.

I think the new Symbian is going to sell really well. Symbian has the best customizability, multitasking, OS features, efficiency, etc. The only area it is currently bit behind is the user interface and even there Symbian has things that can't be done like cuatomizable icons and fonts, SPB shell, fully rotating user interface etc.

Seriously recommend getting to know SPB Shell by the way, if you think interface is a reason not to buy a Symbian phone.

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2010That's why I'm using Android, which I think combines the be... moreNobody cares abnout Symbian? sorry dear but the mere fact you're in this forum means you care about symbian. Its symbian that operates in nokia phones and you're comparison of the OSes simply implies you do have concern with it.

you always have your friends telling you about things they experienced but how bout your own? you always talk about Iphone yet you said you don't have one. And don't try to supress the reality that a person's experience may or may not be different from another perosno's experience. you always heard thing yet have you brought any proof to the table. Ca you please just let us see the link to the news that you're talking about(nokia dumping phones in the landfill)? coz dear I haven't read it and it'll be fun to know that nokia has so much resaource, they don't freaking care to throw unsold handsets.

you have your right to speak and so does I. So you can hate nokia all you want but we can always argue with your words. Telling us that symbian is obsolete? Oh, symbian can have the apps saved in the memory cards years ago. you can always say that symbian63 only has 3 panes compared to 7 of android, but the question is how many widgets can you squeeze in one pane? integration is what symbian can do. oh by the way, symbian can operate smoothly even without your 'oh-so-powerful" 1GHZ processor.

And you knowing ovi without actually seeing the site? LOL. you won't learn what addition is all about unless you have applied it.

Sorry dear, but it seems you lost again in another conversation. you might want to visit iphone pages and android phone pages. They'll appreciate you there. Surprising, isn't it?

I haven't been to Singapore for years, but I still take its airline quite often.

Before the days of iphones, during the safety video presentation, it featured the almighty brand's phone to remind people to turn off the phone at all times.

After the days of iphones, the phone being featured has changed to iphone.

Why bother to use a phone that's not popular / being used by most people?

[deleted post]That's why I'm using Android, which I think combines the best of iphone minus all the disadvantages of iphone, such as no external memory, swappable battery, etc...

Except one thing, most Android (2.1 or below) phones don't support App2SD, so no matter how many great apps are out there, the number of apps I can keep are limited due to limited internal memory. Of course the 2.2 upgrade is around the corner (Jan where I live) which would allow apps be saved on external memory card.

The other guy says I haven't visited the OVI store, which I admit I haven't, but I don't think I need to. Because everywhere else I see companies are developing apps for the iphones, such as shopping malls, subway, airlines, TV stations, etc...a few are also saying they're working for a version for Android. But Symbian? Nobody seems to care anymore...

[deleted post]Japan and Singapore are part of Asia, and these places are just as advance, if not anymore, than many western countries' cities.

Before the days of iphones, I observed near 80% of the people in subway in Singapore used the almighty brand's phones. My friend who now lives in Singapore says nearly 80% of the people are using iphones.

Mallows, 05 Nov 2010@ IP address Er2M: whoever you are, you're so consistent ... moreYou don't care about the apps, that's your choice as some people do enjoy higing in the cave away from the rest of the world.

But the world does move towards the i-world, like it or not. I just heard the i-brand is developing apps which works almost for everything else....being transit / payment card, so any visitor can carry less change in the local currency. The "phone" will also work as the key in hotel rooms, and offer the ability to check-in at airports, etc...

Again, I DO NOT use iphone myself, though I do admit the fact the iphone has changed much of the world, including your favorite almighty brand, who was reluctant to release any 3G touchscreen phone until AFTER the release of iphone 3G worldwide.

I heard about how the almighty brand dumps unsold phones to landfills here thru GSM arena. I know even the relatively outdated iphone 3GS is sold-out, even though it's being listed as "available" where I live. Other brands like Motorola offer special discount to clear off the inventory. For example, the EM35 originally cost near US$250, at in the end, it sold off every single unit at US$64, and those who found it being a bargain rushed out to get the very last copy. NO, the company did NOT offer dozens of variations like what happens to the almighty brand.

I respect all other brands, I just HATE the almighty brand, and I have my rights to do so, if you believe freedom and liberty.
