Anonymous, 11 Nov 2010ok so u own an 10 yr old nokia/se/samsung or whatever with... moreCool beans. Basically ANY phone has multiple functions, even the archaic ones when they also have games, calculators and such. Unless we're talking about the oldest devices possible, then this is constituted as a fact. But capitalizing, on one secondary feature of a phone (e.g. gaming) doesn't mean it should be treated as a dedicated device for that feature.
If, for example, a PS3 has a web browsing feature. Why use it extensively when you have the superior PC to do the job? Same goes for the iPhone. If you treat it more as a multimedia/gaming device than a phone, and then praise it as "the best portable console ever," then you're doing it wrong. Buy a handheld like a DS or PSP if you want real portable gaming. The iPhone 4, believe it or not, is made to make calls. If not Apple could have gone the iPod Touch route and get it over with.
An all-in-one solution cannot easily beat a dedicated device. The N8 would never win against a DSLR, the iPhone 4 cannot kill off the handheld industry, nor any other device can best a phone when it comes to calling and texting.

Really, really old fashioned people who don't know how to set up email on their phone probably don't even have Bluetooth anyway and keep their contacts written in a book.

i don t undestand how we can compare the reliability of one phone to a brand of phone. so if you compare the iphone 4 with the complete range of blackberry (more of 10 models) of nokia it will false the result. you can t expect to have a fair comparaison.

Anonymous, 11 Nov 2010How's email hard? At least with email, I do not have to tra... moreFirst, I should say that I like iPhone. It's a great piece of tech and has its place in the market. I'm glad that Apple stepped up to challenge preconceptions about touch-screen devices. I just prefer other systems (in particular Symbian) over iOS for various reasons.
E-mail - has to be set up, as opposed to BT which requires zero setup whatsoever. Setting up e-mail isn't hard for many people, but it's not something that everyone has done on their phone. None of my sisters CBF with e-mail on their phones, but they can all BT a photo or phone number to me. On that subject: think outside of music. I can send and receive contact details, documents, notes, photos, music, recordings - any file on my phone's filesystem - to any nearby compatible device, wihtout incurring any data charges whatsoever. As for travelling 20 mins - your original suggestion was that e-mail was the *preferred alternative to BT*, meaning we're talking about PAN distances (~2m). Out of curiosity, what file browser do you use to select, attach and send files on your iPhone? I thought there was no such thing, but maybe I need an update?
Video calling - if it's such a non-issue that you never cared for it, how can I take a preference opinion seriously? Video calling isn't very expensive, and has all the convenience of a voice call, including that voicemail acts as a kind of "videomail".
Nothing I've said here is an exaggeration - if you feel I've stretched the truth somewhat, please point it out and I will address the misunderstanding.
