MediaTek is the only chip maker to serve as an ethical alternative to Intel, AMD, and Marvell (all of whom supported the CISPA bill).

Ha, MediaTek wishes Samsung would use their chips to boost their stock prices, but Samsung already has own chipsets that cover middle range to high end mobile phones. So it is very unlikely Samsung has bought a meaningful amount of chipsets.

But recently launch Samsung Gear S3, is getting praised for Tizen OS, which is more polished than Android Wear OS.

this was samsung not willing spend money on low soc rnd develop low level soc anymore....they just buy from mediatek..
they only focus on high level flagship exynos...
this time samsung change their bussines strategy due to note 7 massive failure.

MTK is the market leader anyway, 98% midrange smart phones are powered by its Chips. And of up coming markets like Myanmar, Bangladesh etc

Tizen roots back to the Samsung Linux Platform (SLP) and the LiMo Project and in 2013 Samsung merged its homegrown Bada project into Tizen.
Samsung is using Tizen as alternative mobile platform for both low end phones (Z Series) and smartwatch.
Latest Samsung Gear S3 is also Tizen based and as per multiple reviews, Tizen OS is much better and polished than Android Wear OS.
Members of Tizen Associations are.. Fujitsu, Huawei, Intel, KT, NEC Casio, NTT DoCoMo, Orange, Panasonic, Samsung, SK Telecom, Sprint and Vodafone.

Hope they dont dump those in India. For Tizen it is alright coz no one buys that but if they have Mediatek Soc's in their J/On/A series then that will be the end of it.
Why are they going for Mediatek anyhow; to recover from Note 7 fiasco?

Pfft. another reason to stay back from samsung. I guess I'll ditch my note 5 for a more compact Huawei P9 if Its official.
