At ... moreI have a cheap Vivo V3 (made by Oppo, the largest Chinese OEM), and although it's on lollipop, it has August security patch. Can't say the same about more expensive Sony phones.
Lenovo, Xiaomi, etc, many starts to at least keep the security patches up to date. Meanwhile, Sony just released Marshmallow for the C4/5 phones weeks ago, yet it only had June security patch. There is no longer a value paying premium for Sony unless you are a fanboy that is willing to pay $$$ just for Sony's logo.

I think the Z3 series was cut off prematurely, as it was their most successful ones and for people on it there's no Sony device to make jump to. For instance, the X Compact doesn't perform tangibly better (or in some cases like battery life or GPU performance where 2 generations later we are behind) than the Z3 compact, which was also better designed and smaller for same screen size. I believe it would be smarter to support it until they had a series that are better enough to switch to or they're going to bleed customers.
