Sails, 23 Nov 2010He didn't say at any point these are meant to compete with ... moresuper slim camera modules???

do u know iphone4 and samsung galaxy S feature autofocus camera???

why should i or anyone in the planet agree with the statement??

and does that SUPER FAST FOCUS compensate the ridiculously crappy picture???

apart from economy and making some room for n8 in the market, i dont see any logic behind using this fixed or full focus camera... :\

I like Nokia phones in general, but I think the decision to omit AF was/is a bad idea. Sure both AF & full focus have their pros & cons, but at the end of the day, which will you choose?

I do hope Nokia will bring AF back to the C7-00 Mk II, C6-01 Mk II, E7-00 Mk II, or whatever they'll be called.

The lack of AF just doesn't bode well for people who read tech sites/blogs. I do admit though that the C7 looks really nice and slim, but if iPhone 4 & S can have an AF camera in a slim phone, so can the C7.

Please don't bash me. I'm a Nokia N8-00 user and I prefer it over the S and the iPhone 4. It's just that I wish at least the C7 and the E7 have the AF, so I can wholeheartedly recommend them to my friends and relatives. And yes, full focus does have some advantages, but overall I think AF is still the better way to go. Otherwise, the N8-00 would have come with full focus instead of AF.

Hypocrite, why if it was better, this great technology was not given to N8, Apple and symbian fans such and these blind followers have in fact brought these companies to shame.

          How the mighty have fallen,

Nokia sucks at hardware, Nokia sucks at software even more. Now they suck at cameras too and want to convince people that this "Full Focus" bullshit is good.

              There were two points:
-Easy to get decent pics, no chance of failure (Full focus, no lag)
              -Super slim camera modules

Nokia seems to have missed that these days a camera in a mobile phone is very commonly used as an input device, rather than a pocket camera. Unfortunately for Nokia a fixed focus camera is usually useless as a scanner/input device.

Why those stupid camera manufacturers like Canon, nikon, etc don't go for this super advanced technology in their compact cameras? How pathetic they are!

my previous phone Asus P320 with 2MP autofocus camera shoots better than my current Nokia C5 with fixed 3.2MP camera in closeup.

You can easyly compare the C7 to a mediocre 5 megapixels camera phone for example Samsung Wave II with the new GSMArena photo comparisson tool.

The Samsung Wave II is lot better.

Damians reasons are clear, but IMHO camera quality should improve and not the other way.

Well, full focus is the ultimate snapper solution for people who want cameras that just work. I've seen lots of cases where the user can't even figure out the two phase camera button.

It might be better test to give full focus and fixed focus cameras to random bunch of people from the street and then compare the picture quality after that =)

If camera is important people should get N8 anyway.

thats really silly :/ nokia could have simply admitted that they tried to cut cost and the width of their new phones instead of defending.
the only thing that stopped me from buying e7 is its fixed focus camera cuz i dont want to spend so much bucks to get a silly 8 mpx camera.
