Anonymous, 03 Jan 2011android is like dvd symbian like vcd (old technology)first of all, wow thats the best comparison you could think of it's wrong on so many levels and adding the phrase old technology at the end is just against the point of you using this metaphor ? and second of all it's not like Sympian stopped developing for a second it just was mass users oriented and that's why you don't get stupid mistakes like application having access to things they shouldn't without any kind of permission "http://www.intomobile.com/2010/11/10/android-security-bug-spoof-app" and this is not to bash on Android after all it's a new OS but it just shows how things that are almost forgotten by Nokia now are a current problem for these new flashy OS's.
UI's can be fixed and hell after the next update for the N8 i'm ready to download what ever custom version i could get my hands on after all wasn't that the point of having an OPEN SOURCE OS...!

[deleted post]You have been posting this over and over.. Let me see if the 'facts' you mention are in fact facts:

"--The Nokia N8 is not less expensive than any high end smartphone
--The N8 is $460....a Nexus one is $530
      --Not a big price difference"

-The price of N8 is worth the features it gives you.. The camera module isn't the usual one..

"--Take into consideration the hardware on the N8 are nearly 2 years old
--So the N8 IS EXPENSIVE if you think about it"

-It has a GPU for processing video and game which neither your "more" modern phones have. That means the modern phones are just 3 year phones with a fast processor and lots of RAM.. So the N8 is worth its price which I can't say for sure about your "more modern" phones..

"--The resolution is less...360x640 compared to many less expensive phone with a resolution of 840x480"

      - The 360X640 resolution is an industry standard one(nHD because it is 1/9th of the Full HD resolution). Same can't be said abour the resolutions of your "more" modern phone ( 2:3 - 640X960 for iPh4 and 320X480 for low end androids. 3:5 - 480X800 resolution for some high end Androids).

"--Same goes for the processor arm11 680MHz...many phone of this price have better processors
--Okay! it's true that the N8 has a GPU...but I'm not the only person that says it's laggy, for your information I tried it
--You might think that Symbian is more efficient and requires a lower processor but know that many androids runs really smooth on a 528MHz processor
--So those who are saying that android requires a 1GHz to run have never tried android before
--So people saying that android requires 1 1"

      - I have tried Android on 528MHz and have found them to be more laggy than N8. I'm not sure whether you have tried Android on HTC Tattoo which has a 528MHz but it is very very laggy than a 2year old E71.. The new symbian OS isn't laggy and I dont know which device you tried them on..

"--Symbian is based on microkernel which will always be slower than a regular kernel"
      - What about Android based on Linux but programmers can only use the JVM to run their programs?? Isn't that slower than writing in C++??

"--I'm am definitely not the only person saying that the UI sucks bads"
      - Symbian OS is more of a FUNCTIONAL OS than a GRAPHICAL one...

"--I know you would start to say but the OS is better and more mature...but know that older doesn't mean more efficient and users don't care about the OS but they care way more about the UI
--Android for example may have a less mature OS but still delivers more
--That's mean when Android will reach the same maturity it is gonna be way better than it is now and still now it is pretty good"

-Is that why developers of Android dont guarantee their apps are gonna work on all phones?? It is soo fragmented right now that it is a nightmare for developers.. With more versions and lots of changes being implemented during the next couple of years, it is going to be more fragmented. Come back when Android reaches the maturity of Symbian".

"--The majority of peoples doesn't even know what's an OS they want results they want something beautiful"

      - Not true.. Some needs beatiful OSes while others don't care how beautiful they are..

"--Nokia had plenty of time but IT TOOK THEM YEARS WHAT OTHER ARE DOING IN MONTHS AND STILL THE RESULT IS LESS.
--THATS WHY THEY PLAN RELEASING SOME MAJOR UPDATES NEXT YEAR
--Come on Nokia next year...Google did the same amount of works in just months"

      - Android platform isn't mature enough inspite of having more than 2years of development..

"--The only good thing is the CAMERA"

-The camera on the N8 is the best in the market.. No competition..

"And guys I've owned an N8 and now I have a Nexus one there is a huge difference between both phones....
---and ALMOST ALL THE ADVANTAGES IS ON THE NEXUS ONE SIDE---"

-That because you wanted it too.. Its all down to perspective and things you want.. There are Nokia N8 owners who say their phone is the best.. So each one to his\her view..

its funny how people easily lose hope, give n8 a chance em sure it wil do much better after updates. Aleast give nokia a chance to correct it's mistakes. I think n8 is doing well considering all the negative reviews received.

You use morgan stanley's survey to interpolate your data. However YOU FAILED to realize morgan stanley's survey is only for EUROPE. So where did you get these numbers? You said because n8 sold 4 million units world wide then Iphone 4 should have sold 24 million? 6 x 4 = 24. So where are you getting your facts that Iphone 4 outsells N8 6 to 1 world wide? yeah you fail bro.

[deleted post]To anonymous, you really disappoint me. Read again my comment I did not talk about Europe but worldwide for both iPhone and N8. Nokia sold 2.8 million more than expected which means Apple sold 2.8 million less than expected. This means Apple sold 13 million iPhones which are 4, 3GS and 3G. This is a bad news for Steve Jobs and therefore he reduced the price of iPhone 4 by $100 in US. By the way do some research before talking as there is no iPhone 4G. Steve Jobs has not yet managed to steal other's technology and learn how to make 4G phones.

I've been a Nokia user for almost 7 years now, started with 3310, flirted with seimens a little bit (may it rest in peace the whole company i mean...) then back to 5310, 6610, then i jumped to the N73 which was my first smartphone and it really was good, then 5610XM then back to smart phones with 6220 classic then came Nokia 5800XM and last and it seems like it's not least the N8 which was the ultimate Nokia experience i'v had they removed so many limitations that i don't feel like using a phone anymore good job Nokia i hope your sales skyrocket and to people who're mocking the sales figure just know that the N8 is an option for Nokia users unlike other smartwannabephonies and anyone who's been with a nokia will know that every Nokia phone is uniquely modified OS-wise which is something Android phones are lacking these days except for some phones which their makers were respectful enough to make a change on the OS (SonyEricsson for example).

Will apple give an low- mid end smartphone like symbian or android.

So nokia will become no.1 again in the smartphone market when they release meego within 3-4 months. So apple and android market will fall.....

So all the rest apart from anti Nokia users get lost because were here just to read news and be happy that the phone were using is doing well. What is the problem? Just be happy with your phone. Everybody has different needs.
