30 December, 2010
As we say goodbye to 2010, the European Union says goodbye to un-standardized phone chargers. It's been over a year in the making, but microUSB will be the standard charger plug for European mobile...

they should include two ports like nokia did with their latest phones...one is charging and data transfer, that is micro USB and the second one is nokia's own dependent charger...this way we can charging it both way...My experience is with my own N86 which has only one charging port(micro USB).When the USB port is overused or damage..theres is nothing we can do...we cant neither charge it nor data transfer it...I strongly belive we should have 2 charging ports as mention previously...

Earlier, MiniUSB was announced to be the Standard. Now MicroUSB? But one the best news for customers non the less. Atlast, no more fast port and not charging via usb.

The only problem i had was that people keep grabbing my micro-usb cables without returning them to me. I keep buying cables and they get lesser every year.

I still think phone manufacturers should maimtain their proprietary chargers as an option due to the fact that tear and wear on micro usb is faster. I have had bad experiences with micro usb charging, and never any with proprietary chargers.

This is just me hypothesizing: Nokia will have both microUSB and retain traditional 2mm port. The latter is their own standard for "everything Nokia" as they can universally charge all Nokia phones, bluetooth headsets, and other accessories. The 2mm charger will no longer be included in the package but the user still has the option to buy it as a "fast charger" option. I may be wrong though.

yeah, of course, microUSB standard. but, why it isn't the same "microUSB" as against digital cameras?
