I'm not a fan of microUSB chargers. There was nothing easier than coming home from work and dropping my N95 into a desktop stand with integrated nokia micropin (or what was it called). These days I charge up the n900 and have to remove the cable with considerable effort and care, trying not to rip the usb connector out. Hey ho..

IOSIF, 30 Dec 2010It remains to see what Apple will do as they always insist ... moreit will be quite interesting. will there be European specific products or will they choose the enviromentaly conscious solution at the expense of profits?

They could come up with some kind of "micro USB" connector that is not compatible with other manufactures micro USB products. That would let there legal team to claim compliance, while consumers have no choice but use there overpriced preprietary accesories.

This tipe of microUSB breaks down very quickly. A friend of mine had a type of charger with mircroUSB and held him about 2 months

It should be MINIUSB and not MICROUSB! Microusb connector is too fragile in use. And also miniusb is more popular in other devices -cameras, mp3/mp4 players etc... so you dont have several cables.

it will be really good that this can happen across the world because apart from eradicating redundancy we also saving nature by reduction in mining. we might also move to no charger with any phone that will reduce the cost of the phone and also open new revenue genrator means by selling the charger sapertely for manufactureres.

It remains to see what Apple will do as they always insist on their own proprietary solutions. That means that if they do not comply their phones will be banned from European Markets?

nokia is very smart with this situation

cause you still have the 2.2mm charging port if the microUSB is in use specially when using the USB-OTG feature while watching movies via composite cable or HDMI and still have the microUSB port available as a charging port :D
