This idea is horrible ones. But it will be accepted in 2 years. The same way how Sammy fans used to hate the glass back so so much back in 2015. Now they are embracing glass back panel. Though, i think it will take 5 years for all smartphone market to change using usb type c.

Why are thinner smartphones considered better?
They harder to pick up.
They less robust.
They cant have as big batteries due to lack of space.
It seems in terms of design samsung peaked with the S5, leather back (better than metal design), removable battery, water resistant.
The very old galaxy ace had a brilliant design, nice and thick, edges of screen raised against screen so e.g. screen made no contact when face down and also not accidently touching edges of screen when picking up phone, metal edges, high quality cover for usb port.
Apple and now samsung seem to be doing the opposite of what I consider good design qualities, I keep buying gel covers for my phones so they thicker and hence easier to pick up, the covers also provide a raised edge so I am not accidently touching the screen and to give extra robustness.

On what basis you can say that???
Besides, Oppo ditched headphone jack way back in 2012 with the finder, routing audio through micro usb. It was followed by oppo R5 in 2014(lacking jack also).
In 2016, LeEco ditched jack and diverted audio through usb c port which had CDLA(continuous digital lossless audio) standard for headphone. Moto(lenovo) also walked in the steps of LeEco and moto z was the result of it.
And finally, apple followed them too.
So, get your facts right. Samsung is not "copying" apple. In fact,they both are "copying" LeEco and Oppo.

If it will be removed to make the S8 thinner and with a bigger battery? Well, so let's say that it's OK. But let's hope that it will be better than of the iPhone, and most of all the dual stereo speakers, they are extremely important

But your right, not every idea is game changing but in a stagnant market manufactures will shake things up to get the best out of phones.

YEAHHH......... i mean NOT. This sucks i dont want to use an adapter so that i can use my headphones.
Common guys it is not 2007 anymore, i once had a Sony Phone with a proprietary connector and it suckt big time.

Why can"t Apple & Samsung release a music song together "Anything You Could Do I Could Do Better",thats all we get one of them offers something the other seems to copy each other,the Court cases seem to a waste of time and money between Apple & Samsung,Samsung failed to make the Galaxy S6 and Note 5 phones by copying Apple and not offering the micro sd card slot.so know to copy Apple again might back-fire on Samsung again,What will happen if the New Usb port C is not strong enough to withstand the pressure of charging or headphone connector and breaks easily then Samsung will be under loads of pressure from the Critics again
