I love X10 but it got stuck at 2.1 no way to get 2. 2. As a fan of SonyEricsson for 7 years, I am disappointed with this. I will change to other brand (iPhone or Samsung) if X10 no more update to 2.2 :(

I'm dreaming of the day you can install the OS of your choice on your mobile. When that will happen ? Why don't they make it possible to upgrade the Android ? What's the deal here ?

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2011sorry but this is not fair .. everyday new version of andr... moreSony are behind the times... they jumped onto the Android wagon quite late on and therefore are still playing catchup. They only recently made the 2.1 update available on their Xperia range - whilst others i.e. HTC, Samsung were bashing out the 2.2 updates at the same time.

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2011sorry but this is not fair .. everyday new version of andr... moreNot sure why you are complaining? It is down to the phone manufacturer to keep up with Android really... Buy a HTC, they were running 2.2 on their desire model just as Sony managed to get round to releasing 2.1 on their Xperia range...

this sweet delicious pie chart will change considerable is the next few months as there is a huge load of dual core super androids about to be released all ready for gingerbread updates. Good to see froyo pretty much being the minimum standard now though!

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2011sorry but this is not fair .. everyday new version of andr... moreYou guys blaming the wrong people!!.. its the manufacture and Carrier who is not releasing the update... Manufacture taking too much time for migrating the update to the current models.. then Carriers are pushing the updates back.. to sell new phones with new version of Android.. By doing this people buying new phones because it news in hardware and software and not keeping their old phone.. and just waiting to get update every few months...

If you want updates ASAP.. get Nexus then you can blame Google otherwise blame your carrier and the phone maker!!

If you dont like Nexus.. for what ever reason.. then Get HTC phone they are pretty good on releasing updates.

The constant operating system updates will force individual hardware manufactures to either 1) not provided updates 2) do not customize OS to provide manufacture specific feel for there product. If one doesn't take these actions there will be too much cost in supporting the hardware through it's life cycle.

I would suggest that choosing 2) is a better option. they can still produce killer applications for there phone models that differentiate there products from competors (ie galaxy S has a sumsung keyboard app that I thought was great).

Even the super cool Apple couldn't flow there latest changes to all four of the phone models they have produced.
