chester, 23 Jan 2017So who designed the Note 7 battery?... Guess its Samsung... moreExactly, it is a design flaw of either the phone or battery or the whole unit. They should not take us for fools.

This is just a cover up of the real issue. In order for something to bend, there must be external pressure or in this case heat to bend the metal. What was the cause of thr bending?
In the replacement units, what was the defect in the manufacturing process? So now Samsung batteries were safe but just a bending issue of electrodes and batteries from their Chinese partner company were flawed?
Samsung is trying to hide a design flaw of their phones. I have an A7 2016 and it heats so much at times when charging or when outdoors. Samsung is just hiding something.

Make the device thinner if you want, but pay close attention to the constraints imposed by the decision to go with the thinner design choice.

Samsung now has all those millions of returned Note7 in a warehouse somewhere - perhaps without the battery. They could resell those Note7 as refurbished with a new battery at a discount. But might not make as much money doing that as opposed to selling a new S8 instead. Still a pity as it was said that the Note7 was the best phone ever of any so far.

RaghavaZ, 23 Jan 2017S7: The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge go everywhere you go. In the ... moreI actually thought i was the only 1 complaining about the false water resistant on S7...then i saw thousands of ppl crying and regretting for taking the S7 into water whether it's the shower or swimming pools....actually swimming pools and shower are top reasons why many S7 go dead afterwards and the cause is water damage...this is not even reaching the 30mins max time...
That's really disappointing for such a flagship phone...failing to live upto Samsungs claims

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2017Well isn't this great. The battery was prone to bending in ... moreLol...if they say S7 is water resistant for 30mins under 1,5 meters in water and then you say its not supposed to be in water for that long...there's contradition.
The phone falls in clean water in a kitchen sink and you pick it up...2 days later it malfunctions and dies.
You take the phone to Samsung Care Center and they tell you its water damaged...and you've to pay...really...so Samsung S7 is a substandard product...bought it the S7 from Samsung so its not a clone.
I've experienced it that's why i say its falsely advertised as a water resistant phone when its not...period

"In case of original units, the tech giant said the battery design was to blame. Specifically, the flaw was in the upper right corner of the battery, and it "made the electrodes prone to bend and, in some cases, led to a breakdown in the separation between positive and negative tabs, causing a short circuit.""
- quoted from this article -
From this statement it is clear that adding an extra tolerance would have helped reduce the chance of electrodes (terminals) bending.

Why can't you give suggestions to Samsung regarding this? Moto Z is even slimmer than Note7, then it didn't face an issue like this no? Slimmer design isn't the fault at least according to Note7's own maker.

Well isn't this great. The battery was prone to bending in a rock solid metal chassis body. And somehow it bent and it's battery's fault. OK but how did it bend without outside force? This is complete and utter b s
