Xperia XZ is water resistant and protected against dust, so donÂ’t worry if you get caught in the rain or want to wash off dirt under a tap water, but remember all ports and attached covers should be firmly closed. You should not put the device completely underwater; or expose it to seawater, salt water, chlorinated water or liquids such as drinks.
These are the warnings given by the respective brands regarding their water resistant capability. IP68 allows you to use phone underwater for up to 30 mins, only saves your phone from water damage, but that doesn't mean you should use it underwater as clearly warned by Sony not to do in its case. When you are not following what your brand has mentioned in its manual then you are not entitled to complain, when they themselves said not to put your phone completely under water as a warning.

RaghavaZ, 23 Jan 2017Were you part of those who inspected Note7's battery issues? Nope.
It stands to reason that allowing a bit more room for the battery would have helped eliminate some of the problems that led to this fiasco.

Better buy iPhone 7 or Sony for water resist phones.
Samsung S7 is not water resistant...it's that simple...that's reality
Dip your S7 in water for 20 mins and you'll get water damage sooner or later.

I find it difficult to believe that a company such as Samsung would have not seen the battery short it would have been a very obvious spot for there quality control, plus it would have started to happen in the factory straight after they had been built, a short in any electrical device wouldn't wait it would short immediately, if it was to happen over a number of charges then it would have been poor quality insulation actually melting as it was charging, I believe that there was a problem with the fast charge technology, why a premium price for low cost builds.
And with reference to what one chap mentioned removable batteries would help.

To say 'stay away from Samsung' I think is very unfair, they went above and beyond what was required when in reality it was a tiny amount of devices with issues. For me, the way they dealt with the whole situation only inspired more confidence in the brand.

Removable battery, please. Going thin with sealed battery is not progress. Pressure and tightness to an overworking sealed battery is never a good combination. At lease a removable lets the battery to pop out when it finally balloons out.

"The tech giant also made it clear that the design of the phone was nowhere to blame for the issue."
Really?
The mad rush to make phones thinner and thinner is one design decision that led in part to this battery issue.
Many users won't mind having a phone with about 8 to 10 millimetre thickness as long as it has a decent battery life and it's not prone to battery related problems.

If only the battery is at fault then why not just replace the battery with a redesigned one instead of discarding the entire phone?

Biggest lie of the century. If "only" battery was to be blamed, Why did they stop the production?
Moreover, they could still sell the remaining stocks with a safer/tested battery to cut down financial losses.
Wait! they don't want it to explode again!
Truth: Note 7's design was flawed. They crammed to much of hardware into a thin body..or bomb..
