          Loyal fan base.
I guess not anymore. I wouldn't want another time bomb or whatever you call it to be placed on my pillow every single night. Pissed-off Note series.

That way, if the S8 drops in April, I'd gladly trade it in for the Note 8 come Fall.

I had the Note7 for 2 weeks... was a truly amazing phone and miles ahead of my old S4... I'm now back to that S4 and were it not for my TAB S2, I'd have gone mad...

I'm not sure I can wait another 9 months for the Note8... I might have to jump ship to the S8 Plus instead and skip the Note series for the next few years... really wish it wasn't +- 9 months to the Note8.

JMTM, 23 Jan 2017lol engineering mistake? learn from what? Samsung officia... moreTo my understanding, the battery would have been fine had the device's housing not been engineered in such a slim form factor. It had no room to expand as needed, hence, building pressure and causing the spontaneous combustion.

So, yes, a battery issue caused by an engineering fault. It's not difficult to learn from a costly oversight such as that.

I really hope that Samsung, with all their investigations and research will listen and react accordingly to the consumer base that made the original Note a success. Myself included was one that contributed to that consumer base back in 2011.
I hope they do not focus on appeasing the Apple converts and provide a high spec phone targeted towards the power user by implementing and retaining the features that made the Note line successful.

The world is watching Samsung, try not to poop the bed this time.

Good news. I will wait paciently for the Samsung Note 8. I am still convinced that it will be a beast of a phone with great specs. Quality will be (and must) good. Samsung cannot afford an onter misstake like the battery issue of the Note 7.

AnonD-91208, 23 Jan 2017Wohooooo yesssss, finally dj koh confirmed it. Phewwww so r... moreWhy are you happy exactly?

The rumour was that S8 plus would support pen and thus (basically) have Note 8 6 months early. Now you'd have to wat 6 more months to buy the S8 plus at a greater price.

Honestly, what's to like in this scenario? Notes stopped being worthy since Note 5 (S clones released 6 months late).

This is a dark day for consumers and fans alike and I hope more people would pressure Samsung to drop the Note series.

The Note series will be just fine. The general public doesn't give two F's about the Note 7 fiasco. Engineering mistakes happen, and Samsung has definitely learned from its mistake. The company is still as strong as ever. Facts.

I was devastated to have to return my Note 7 and go back to my Note5, but it had to be done. Although, returning to an already great flagship device was hardly an issue. Kudos to Samsung for acting so fast in recalling the device and getting consumers situated. Hats off to such an honorable company.

The Galaxy Note 8 will be amazing, and reviews will be stellar. Mark my words. It's a 100% guarantee that I'm going to purchase the 128GB version on day 1 if it's available in my country. No question.

BTW..just as the Galaxy S7 Edge is highly regarded as the best smartphone of 2016, the Galaxy S8 will be no different as it will take that award for 2017, continuing its reign. Best phablet will undoubtedly go to the Note 8. Hands down.

A powerful device is only as good as its software. That being said, when it comes to productivity, Samsung's software suite is as good as it gets.

Are you listening this time Samsung......REMOVABLE BATTERY is a must. FM Radio, IR Blaster would be nice to have but not a deal breaker like the NON Removable Battery would be....if not, I will stick with my Note 4 and keep replacing the battery on my own until it fails and I will then buy another phone that has a Removable Battery.
