This is a big problem since it puts the phone into risk... and is time to show up the real scores of the Snapdragon 820 and 821... maybe the real scores are not as different as the stock ones. And now that Meizu is targeted too, Samsung has a LOT to explain about their Moongose cores. Maybe the Beast Mode they are developing for gaming in the Galaxy S8 is another way to cheat, but with an elegant name.

And the reason why Apple has superior Core performance and benchmark is that they uses L3 Cache, something that the rest lacks. Maybe is time for the competition to implement that L3 Cache once at all. By that moment, Apple would start to use the SMT Intel uses.

Anonymous, 01 Feb 2017>Chinese phones Low quality and cheating for "flagship ... moreSony has touch screen issues.
HTC cheated a bunch in benchmarks in the past, and laughably bad firmware updates outside of the flagship device. Even the flagship updates have issues. Look no further than the current Nougat rollout for the 10.

PS, don't forget all the other Apple issues. It blew up like the Note 7, buzzgate, bendgate, etc.

So I just buy what I like and hope for the best. (Except for Sony, NEVER AGAIN.)

Sorry guys, but where are proofs that Meizu cheated on benchmarks? The whole story is about One Plus 3T... I'm the only one who noticed that there's no word/proof about Meizu cheating?

That's a good thing, i hope people will finally stop looking at meaningless numbers and start caring about the details that really matter.

AnonD-39937, 01 Feb 2017You forget an important detail... Intel and AMD use it most... moreYou are completely lost my friend. Benchmark such as Geekbench (no matter how crappy it is) tests only the speed performance of the SoC. Stability is a different thing. The fact that OP3T survives a long benchmark without throttling means it is perfectly fine and should not be crippled by limiting its frequencies at certain load. The SoC was designed to run up to 2.15Ghz/2.4Ghz configuration. If you want to see how fast the chip is, run it at its maximum speed.

If the frequency goes beyond those numbers, then it is called overclocking (or cheating for dummies =D)

AnonD-39937, 01 Feb 2017You forget an important detail... Intel and AMD use it most... moreSo these benchmark tests should run for an hour and create averages. This way if they cheat peoples' phones shut down from over heating.

AnonD-39937, 01 Feb 2017Benchmarks are about seeing how can a phone perform...If it... moreRunning a benchmark on a computer or a smartphone is done to see how powerfull the hardware is. If you want to figure out how a phone perform under normal usage, there is no other way to find that out other than using / trying the phone out over a little period to see how it perform for you under real world usage.

When you run 3DMark on your computer, it will push the GPU to it's maximum limit, because it's a GPU benchmarking tool that is there to benchmark your GPU 100%, which is the whole point.

I'm suprised you don't know what the whole point behind benchmarking is.

J o m s, 01 Feb 2017Nonsense, it is not cheating at all. You need the processor... moreYou forget an important detail... Intel and AMD use it mostly (let's not talk about Intel Atom and M lines, because they are crap) in active cooled system which don't throttle as much(even not at all if it has good cooling) as passive cooled systems like phones... If you keep the clocks that up for long it won't take much till the phone is going to throttle massively, that means that it can be used mostly in benchmarks which are fairly short, not in a hour gaming session or something like that... The principle used by Intel and AMD can't be used properly in phones, except for scams like this.

They win, until found out they are influencing buyers decisions and even then people quickly forget the "scandal". Information about cheating does not reach a large group anyway.
Beside Antutu could easily protect against targeted benchmark cheating of this kind by running benchmarking threads by spawned apps with random names generated on execution.

While cheating of this kind is really bad, I can vouch for a real life performance of 3T. It just flies.. I mean literally! Maybe because lower resolution display compared to other phones using same processor or F2FS (not sure how many other phones have it). But OP 3T performance is top notch!

I guess or only option is either Sony or HTC, or new Nokia.
These are the only brands I trust tbh
