tonymancs, 28 Feb 2017No lag on Android. Even on low-end devices.
You sir just... moreI'm glad I did. Too bad your ignorance is big and you can't accept that fact that Android is improving all the time. Not our fault that you're buying an outdated phone with an outdated Android 4.4 version. lol
Keep on being mad. Sailfish will fail, by the way.

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2017Lmao? No lag on low end phones?Yeah, no lag on low-end phones. If you check out low-end Motorola, Huawei, Xiaomi and even the new Nokia phones, there's no lag, and everything works smoothly. You mad?

Try on a Sony or a nexus/pixel and you'll see there is no lag. Also, by unlocking the developer options you can customize the animations and tranzitions time to 0.5 or even turn it off.
Don't judge a whole OS based on your experience with one bad phone..
It's illogical like Spock would say :))

I've never used this OS before so I can't comment on this too much.
It's good to see Sony try new things, but at the same time I'm afraid this won't work though. Everyone wants android these days.
All I can say is when I discovered the Turing Phone I saw they will release it with Sailfish OS and because I never uused it, I passed it and didn't go for the pre-order. Maybe it's good, but since I've never seen it with my own eyes, I don't know how useful it will be for my needs.
Can you root Sailfish OS?

This is good news. Now that windows mobile has pratically been killed by Nutella, Sailfish could be a good alternative. I am definitively in, just make sure you have decent HW and NO LAG like on Android...
We need more than 2 mobile OS'...

Great news, at last a decent hardware manufacturer with the a spine that's prepared to get involoved with a truly different OS, and to the poster asking how is this different, well if you're asking that here then it's not for you, as you're clearly not that interested that you can be bothered to find out for yourself. People that appreciate there personal privacy, and people that don't want to be data mined to their death bed, and bombarded by advertising 25 hours a day will still buy it, keep your 'droid, it's effing dreadful. My next phone will definitely be a Sony running SFOS now thins has been announced, thank you Sony!

consumersmartphone, 28 Feb 2017First to be honest there no android without bloatware. Or m... moreBloatware-ridden is something like great amount of bloatwares (Sammies or HTC). Ofcource it's about bussiness, the possibility of making an OS independent on Google. If Nokia think about future they should give it a try.

This will be a great chance for jola and Sony. Sony's quality hardware and sailfish OS. This will be a great chance for both. For those who just bashing Sony, sailfish OS is a most secured OS with a wonderful and refreshing treat for everyone. Sailfish OS was only missing a great hardware. Now people will notice how good it is. I love the OS in Intex aquafish. But that hardware is just pathetic. Sony. Please release a proper flagship with sailfish OS.

tonymancs, 28 Feb 2017It's better than bloatware-ridden one but not I don't like ... moreFirst to be honest there no android without bloatware. Or maybe we have different definition about bloatware.
Second, its all about business, dont care about friends or ex-Nokia. HMD own Nokia now!
Third, yes Sony see Jolla as potential partner. Wise decision by Sony management.
