AnonD-115391, 03 Mar 2017I just recently switched back to SONY from Sammy S7 Edge, ... moreSlimBezels only for looks, not other practical purpose.

How did u know sony security is the best?

Ive read this before somewhere that its one of the most stable android around and the smoothest.

Arent all big brands better built than sammy? Samsung has good design at the moment, but it feels cheap when u are actually holding it. Hell my redmi 3 pro feels alot more expensive in my hand and my leeco before that.( fyi my wife has s6edge plus and now s7 edge, im just not a fan. Good camera and speakers tho)

I cant wait to have the premium in my hands, but all depends if it performs well on the reviews. And should have excellent battery life.

RaghavaZ, 03 Mar 2017Curved parts are not usable? Really? What about Apps Edge f... moreTell me one edge feature that can't be done with a flat display under a 2.5D glass. They look good, other than that it's pretty useless. LCDs have a part that extends under the display panel, bottom bezel houses that part and a speaker. People also forget that Sonys have a camera button. Top bezel is more crowded and you know what's there. LCDs are also thicker panels than amoleds. When you consider all that, Sonys package is pretty all around without compromising specs.

                      Hello SONY!
Looks like SONY is doing all its best to get back into the smartphone game with the new Xperia XZ Premium. If they actually release this phone in its advertised configuration, it could be the home-run the company has needed for several years to stave off extinction. It's beautiful to look at, has an expensive feel in the hand, gets lots of attention, and has the specs to be the best that SONY has ever produced.
But there are still a couple of very important hurdles that SONY must get over to compete with Apple and Samsung, the two other giants in the room.
First, SONY must release and support this phone in all its markets world-wide simultaneously. As is usually the case, SONY will, most likely, release this phone in its home Asian market first (Japan) followed by a couple of 3rd world markets like India and Southeast Asia where most people cannot even afford to buy a roll of toilet paper, much less one of SONY's previously lackluster over-priced smartphones. And SONY historically has foolishly ignored the USA, the world's biggest and most affluent marketplace, much to the company's detriment.
The XZ Premium is the phone that will sell in the USA if they market it effectively. That means advertise the hell out of it on TV, in print media, and on the internet.
Second hurdle is customer service and support. SONY has always been abysmal in this department. If I buy this phone in England and take it on vacation in the USA, I don't want to be denied warranty service if needed in the USA. SONY must, repeat, must improve its customer service and support network. Any SONY smartphone factory warranty should be honored with a smile at any SONY service location anywhere in the world, no matter where I bought it. This is something Apple does very well. ...and why did SONY, in their omnipotent wisdom, close all of their sales/service centers in the USA? Where do we go to see and touch their products and obtain warranty service? Again, Apple and Samsung beat SONY hands-down in this area.
Third, this is the phone SONY really needs to sell. So price it to sell. Don't price it at $900 and expect it to be a home-run, because it won't. SONY phones do not have the reputation to command that kind of sky-high price. If SONY really wants to sell this phone, they need to come down off their high nose attitude and price it accordingly, even if the have to take a bit of a loss on the back end. It's important to get this phone into the market so people can see that SONY is serous about its own survival.
I believe the new SONY Xperia XZ Premium has great great potential for SONY, but they must get the other parts of the puzzle in place to make it work for everybody who may want one. I am no Apple fanboy, and I don't care much for Samsung, but these companies do a great job of marketing their products and supporting their customers. SONY really needs to learn this lesson.
Good luck to SONY. I hope you bring this phone to the USA, support it properly, advertise it everywhere, and price it to sell. If SONY can manage to do these basic things, I will the first in line to buy it; otherwise, no thank you.

I just recently switched back to SONY from Sammy S7 Edge, and the reasons were very simple and basic I need in my business device. I am seeing here people all just gimmicking about Beezels, but lets get it outright clear. Beezel less design is more of a gimik then actual practical use. Even though I personally dont use iphone as it does not suits my ecosystem of devices, fact is, Apple is a number 1 selling phone in US and it has all beezels.

My reasons for getting back on SONY(Purely experience based)
                                      - Biggest Reason: Sony has the most stable and smooth build of Android. S7E on other hand is full of useless crap that overtime(6 months) degrades performance and really get on the nerves
                                      - Security and software updates are best with Sony which is utmost critical for information security. On top of it, no nonsense useless features
                                      - Sony is built like a tank. Hold it in the hand and you will feel the difference between Sony and Sammy. I had Z2 and now XZ. Multiple drops, just a few scratches here and there. No major damage. Yes, i am bit careless about carrying my phone. S7E, i had2 drops, each time i had to spend big $$ to get screen replaced. Sony beezels actually help in avoiding major damage.
                                      - Battery capacity. Sony battery performance after 6 months is still the same it was when it came out of the box. With my regular use, can easily go 24 hours without recharging. S7E, 6 months, and battery endurance dropped like hell
                                      - People asking for larger batteries in same size, just and FYI: Li Ion battery design has almost reached its peak. If you are aware, you cannot pack more power in same size now. Remember Note7 fiasco. The faulty design was a result of trying to pack more in less, and bad diode design
                                      - Beezel issue: Lets get a break. Beezel helps. Bottom line. S7E. Curved screen design was always an issue for me. accidental touches while talking on phone, in pocket issues, Edge apps launching just because it detects my palm as touch. It was a pure nuisance.

Bottom line is, i gave up Sammy as i was tired of its sluggish software experience as i want something professional and not a toy. Second, i need a device that lasts and bahave like a smartphone and not like fashion gimick that would have a wardrobe failure on ramp.

Rest, people, everyone has individual choice. My experience with Sammy was sub par. So i gave it up. I will surely try new S8 as well XZ Premium. which ever suits me best, i will carry that.
