as much as I hate Apple, I will buy their iPhones if I have cash good enough for a Pixel. Pffft! I am using a Nexus 5.

The beauty of Android is choice. It isn't like Google is forcing people to buy a Pixel for $700+.

I got an LG G5 for $240 brand new. I just made a couple calls with Sprint and it is now both international and domestic unlocked. Awesome value. If you want mods done right, get a Motorola Moto Z Force. It has close to stock Android and shatterpoof display. If you want something cheaper, then get a Nokia 5 or 6 which has stock Android.

I don't understand all the complaints about the Pixel's design or price. People cover up a phone anyway to defeat the purpose of showing off its design. What matters more is how it feels in the hand and how it performs. The smaller Pixel delivers in both accounts and doesn't show smudges or cracks as easily as that overrated S7 edge. And as for price, there are alternatives mentioned above.

This is just Google getting fed up from everyone mooching off their free, open source platform, maybe a middle finger to Apple and Samsung in the high-end, or simply wants Pixel to be premium. If you want a cheaper Android, go Chinese or Android One. Google wants to rid of Android's low-end, cheap-end stigma.

Version 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the Pixel should improve. My future smartphone will be the Pixel 3 with Android Pie. Keep it premium because this is the iPhone of Android done the way Google wants. Android turns 10 for the masses. I hope Google and HTC revive the Nexus One/HTC One M7 design. Gotta love tasting that warm apple pie, ladies.

AnonD-39937, 05 Mar 2017Man, please stop eating shit, it's disgusting. S7 has the s... moreThe S7 runs on Samsung's own Exynos processor which beats Snapdragon in benchmark tests and real world performance. The S7 even has two variants, an Exynos one and a Snapdragon one and the Snapdragon variant is worse in speed, battery life and overall performance than the Exynos variant. The S7 UFS storage is currently the fastest that is out yet on a smartphone. The S7 display is also the best display ever tested by displaymate. The Pixel display isn't anywhere near the S7 in accurate color reproduction and sunlight legibility. The Pixel on uses a lower-end Samsung AMOLED panel which non-flagship Samsung devices also use. Samsung only reserves their best SuperAMOLED panels on their flagships. Samsung's power optimatization and performance modes save the user the hassle of installing 3rd-party apps just to kill unnecessary processes running in the background which bugs down the phone's performance and eats up battery. These are not even apps. These run automatically. Watch Google adopt these features on stock Android 3 years from now just like how it took them years to have split screen view on stock Android.

The Pixel camera doesn't KILL the S7 camera. It was rated a tad better. But comparing the 2 phones I'll take the Samsung everyday. I want a phone that has features. Wireless charging, water and dust resistent, expandable memory, always on display and Saumsung Pay. Plus I put Package Disabler Pro on it and no more Touch Wiz problems. The Pixel is a top notch phone but I prefer the Samsung.

Most idiotic design ever. Half matte, half glossy.

I only like four phone brands -

                                Google (makers of Android)
                                Nokia (durable, reliable)
Motorola (Michael Fisher is a fanboy)
                                LG (quietly innovative)

The 5th member might be Sony but they can be extremely overrated by PlayStation fanboys. Nokia and Motorola are far more reliable. LG actually changes each year in design. And Google is Google.

The whole point of Google wanting premium proces is to rid of the stigma that not all Android devices are cheap with weak specs. This isn't the Nexus 4 era anymore. Nomore OEM branding. This is truly Google's babies now.

The first Pixel still has its share of flaws like a design still in beta. But it is a really good first generation device.
If you love Google and all their services and want pure Android, then people should pay top dollar for their phones.

Perhaps Google is tired of offering their OS for FREE and others are making billions off their work and alternating it to make it look bad. Premium segment is where the real money is at. Not the market for the cheapskates. Google it.

If Google use the same iterative design (the one everyone uses) this year the Pixel is going to be a massive flop.

Samsung, LG, Apple, Xiaomi and the rest are taking massive design leaps this year. Having a 4-5 year stale design and the same specs as all the other phones leaves Google little to differentiate themselves by. Being the most expensive phone with limited availability is also going to hurt them a lot.

The "Pure Google Experience" that is currently their only selling point are mainly only what interests enthusiasts who know how to get stock Android on almost any phone anyway.

Google should include wireless charging in its next model. It would be an added bonus if the DAC was a Quad-DAC. It would be the best phone on the market, if it is as fast as or faster than its predecessor and a smaller bezels to cut some of the realestate because the previous one is huge.
