06 March 2017
The official says the RAM race reminds of Cold War times, points out that Huawei does have 6GB models after all.

Problem is less ram doesn't mean cheaper. Remember the day that iphone have 256 or 512 m? Even today many Chinese brand with 4g ram still cheaper than their 2g huawei phone.

its a excuse to say 4GB is too much. i use a lot of tab on broswers, opening several apps and playing heavy graphics games. 4GB is not enough.
when it comes to innovation, it always needs more. remember those days when people use 32bit windows w/limit of 3GB saying its too much. now a single games runs at 6-7GB ram. most gamers build these days at 32GB or atleast 16GB.
now 4GB might be enough for this and next year but wont for 2019-2020 unless you plan to spend another phone in a year or two. thats is their marketing stategy. you already knowby now that 16GB storage is not enough but back at 2014-2015, xiaomi mi4 was at 16GB saying its already enough and no sd card support. look at what happens to those phones today. they had to sell it to buy another phone.
with nougat 7 and next version, multi display/windows, don't expect 4GB to run smoothly esp with multiple apps running.
might be enough for those noobs but definitely not for enthusiast.

Actually their never enough RAM! Anything suspend to RAM runs 100x faster than when it's suspended to NAND or cold starting. This is universal for any platform (OS). We see tendency of adding more core's & MP spends considerably more RAM when executing on more cores, their is also thread of bad optimised more visually appealing software that naturally also eats more. So it's a never ending story.

Shadow Snypa786, 06 Mar 2017Maybe thats why samsung hasn't introduced 6 GB Ram yet beca... moreThey do not offer it because they want to sell note 8 with the magical 6Gb. In fact it was Samsung themselves that were marketing the c9 pro phone of theirs as faster because of the extra ram.

As for 6Gb ram, it play huge role in ram retention. It's pretty much the thing that makes a phone the fastest in every day performance. Check oneplus 3T slaying the rest of the flagships:

That Huawei Boss pretty much want to sell you a worse experience for the same money and are OK with that

First they teased Apple for removing the headphone jack.
Second, they're now against the 6GB RAM race (not really into it as 4GB RAM is still fine).

Mark my words, Huawei will soon remove the jack and make 6GB RAM phones. Seriously Huawei, why make statements and promises when you can't even withstand them for a long time? A matter of getting people's attention that you're against them then suddenly be with them?

Shadow Snypa786, 06 Mar 2017Maybe thats why samsung hasn't introduced 6 GB Ram yet beca... moreActually Samsung do have a 6GB LPDDR3 phone (C9 Pro) and they even proudly boast about it and how it will make the phone better for multi-tasking on their HK web site. Android relies heavily on multi-tasking so their statement that it will make the phone faster and more responsive is most likely true. Evidence from other phones also backs that up too. The only reason the EU and US phones don't have more RAM is down to cheapskate cost cutting excercises in the case of the S8 phones.

People just want more ram, but they don't know if they really need it or not. My phone and my tablet has only 1GB ram. I didn't feel any slowness during normal usage.

Maybe thats why samsung hasn't introduced 6 GB Ram yet because they know its not needed, they did push more Ram pretty much every year or 2 but now for the 3rd year in a row they havent changed it at all.

If more Ram and QHD makes the phone more expensive to consumers then why can I buy a S7 edge for 200 quid less than an iphone 7, and 200 quid less than a Mate 9.

Well said! Ultimately it all boils down to the customer and as long as they offer both 4GB and 6GB models, it's best for both worlds!
