Anonymous, 06 Mar 2017Exactly. For 99% of people 6 GB is useless. For 1 % , 32 G... moreI'm not sure it is useful unless people have like 100 browser tabs open at once. Only things that need loads of ram are games and I think leaving them fully loaded up will ruin battery life.

AnonD-196068, 06 Mar 2017Actually Samsung do have a 6GB LPDDR3 phone (C9 Pro) and th... moreYeah but they dont say it isnt needed and then use 6GB of RAM like Huawei.
Apple said screens biiger than 4.7 inches were too big now they use screen displays above 5.5 inches,
Huawei say QHD isnt needed and so isnt 6GB of RAM yet they use it.
Samsung may use it at least they dont say its not needed or rubbish tech.

Clever engineering in terms of the motherboard architectural design and software optimization, plus real and effective RAM and ROM management is what lead to a better device performance and user experience.

Wasn't Huawei also the one that introduces decacore SoCs and then claimed that more than 4 was irrelevant?

it only means that android is really resource hungry. The higher the version, the higher it needs when in terms of hardware. Cellphone specifications nowadays is even higher than a regular laptop which is ridiculous. Why we need an 8 cores cpu and a good gpu plus 6gb of rams just to power a 5.5" screen device?

Because wanting a 32GB RAM smartphone in 2017 is OVERKILL, to say the least!

AnonD-514012, 06 Mar 2017Problem is less ram doesn't mean cheaper. Remember the day ... moreApple being expensive has nothing to do with RAM. It is more expensive than other flagships just because it has Apple logo on it. iPhone is even cheaper to manufacture than some mid range Android phone.

Anyone remember when 640K is enough for anyone? Bill Gates was certainly proved wrong on that one. This about trying to justify cutting corners and hoping people are stupid enough to fall for it! When it comes down to it what % of the overall price of the phone is the extra RAM. I would say well under 10% so please don't try and tell us this about what we need. The amount of extra costs added is minimal. It is about selling prices at as higher price as possible while still providing less than appropriate spec's that match those price levels to save on manufacturing costs. This is just an attempt in the hope that we will be fooled to think otherwise.

You can recover from low easily . I'm more concerned about high resolution screen because you can't recover from dead battery if you don't have charger or power source handy .

He should not tell us what's value for money.
Just tell us does more than 4 GB RAM translates into better user experience, yes or no. And if yes, is that true for all operating systems, or only Android devices work better with more RAM.

Leave 80 google chrome tabs, 45 incognito google chrome tabs, leave 15 some daily average apps like messaging, calls, calculator, couple of high end games. andyoutube running in the background.
An well see if 6GB ram is enough.
There is a "good portion of people! that just keeps opening apps and browser tabs, and forgot / or not part of their habit to keep shutting things down when they dont need it. Coz i used to be one of those people.
For those people that have that habit, for them, thats normal usage. Well see if 6GB is enough,..
Plus year on year, apps running memory usage gets higher and higher anyway, apps gets more complicated as years gone by, even software and security updates are making phones slower over the years, even when you havent done anything untowrds to the phone to make it slow, the phone slows down over the years, so why is that?

Ok. I thought the same thing. I thought 2gb was enough, 3 was good and 4 was a little overkill but ever since I bought a oneplus 3T, I have noticed that with keeping apps that I use regularly in suspense still used like 3-4gb of ram. I even ran graphical games and had no problem keeping everything going at once so it's mainly how you approach things.

Will Huawei say 6gb ram too much again a few years from now? I can see we live streaming 4K video or even gaming using VR with 5G network in the future, yet still 4gb ram? Multitasking with Nougat split screen features with measely 4gb? Hey, maybe triple split screen in android 8.0 so are we still going to stay with 4gb ram?
Software in the future will always require higher specs. How can Huawei not see this? Gaming apps especially evolving at a rapid rate. Even my Instagram doesnt work anymore in my old 1gb ram spare phone without being extremely laggy. And Facebook app crazy lags need 100gb of ram! Just saying, I still hate FB app to this day.
