There's also barely anything left of BlackBerry OS.

The Windows Phone OS is better and more secure than android. Although I use an Android phone, I would prefer to use Windows phone. Android is riddle with viruses, spyware and malware, it is big security risk to any company and country !! Would rather a phone that you can customize and or a phone that is secure? Microsoft has not tried hard enough to push their OS(don't know why)....any of these hardware manufactures can Windows phone on their hardware. They choose Android because it allows them to spy on all of us and use our data for their profits. Apple's OS is better than Android, however too pricey for what they offer. Come on Microsoft...pull your finger out and get going !!

Windows phone (windows 10 mobile) - had it, used it and dumped it. Just can't get used to the checker boxes start screen - so horrible with tiles of different combinations of colors and logos, flipping now and then. The windows store on the phone is much worst than Android Google Play and Apple App store. Always taking long time to load and the much hated resuming crap is still around. The app switcher is horrible too - only capable of displaying maximum of 6 - 8 opened apps. Apps availability on the store is bad as well - don't tell me because Google has more junk apps. It's more like developers are not giving a damn about the WP platform. Whatsapp is far inferior than the iOS / Android versions - all chat bubbles are having the color for different recipients. The stock music is horrible too - ugly UI and unable to play songs by folder.

Bottom line - Windows phone is just not for my liking. Period.

Because I am only a student and have yet to understand the workings of a fully professional workload but at the same time after reading your comment I felt as though I have been using google's services due to my generation's deeming bing to be "for old people" and gmail being more within the trend than outlook ever is. I would really like to know if outlook and bing are actually better productivity wise.

AJ_74, 15 Mar 2017No Dude, Google didn't kill WP. Microsoft killed WP because... moreits true what you said...thank you..

Windowsphone is also good for me as i have it but the big mistake is ditching nokia name in lumia device and the after sell sevice is worse.. lumia 830 was the beautiful device designed by nokia but camera flaw is terible bug that microsoft never fixed it until now. Nokia was the top player of windows phone and the reason why people buy windowsphone.

And now Nokia is android, do you think people will buy windowsphone again?:)

Anonymous, 15 Mar 2017Thank you. It's so true, we need more posts like this in ... moreActually, its not true. That answer is a "Trump alternative fact" at best. Google is like a plague killing everything around and on its path. Try a simple search on why Google is being investigated for trying to stop Samsung from deploying Tizen on their phones (https://www.technobuffalo.com/2017/02/17/ftc-investigates-google-tizen-development/). As a consumer you should be really concerned about having just two mobile OS available on market. Apples and Bananas... It's not healthy to have just two options. Open your eyes people!

Two-horse race? More like a walk-over for Google. 80/20 is a massacre from Android. Only place where iOS is kept relevant is the United States full of ignorant, hipsters.

AnonD-39937, 15 Mar 2017Looking forward to Chrome OS, it gets better and better, if... moreChromeOs is not made to handle such things at this point. Maybe in the future when it evolves. Honestly windows 10 is a great architectural feet that is still evolving. What MS has done can truly change the play field. Google and Apple are seeing adaptive OS's with one ecosystem as a natural progression to having separate ones for each device and then separate ecosystems. MS is ahead in this area but the competition is ahead in apps. MS needs people writing new apps. Google/Apple would have to build out their operating systems and then change some of the tools for apps. They already have the developers.

It should be interesting to see what happens in the next 5 years.

I don't understand one thing: You hate Microsoft for "badly made" Windows Phone/Mobile, and yet You welcome Chrome OS, which is even worse... What makes You do that? Naivity? Stupidity? What's the reason?

Anonymous, 15 Mar 2017"Microsoft wanted apps. Microsoft even tried to create it's... moreNice try, but wrong...
Microsoft did not ban Firefox or anything. The system simply was not prepared for it. WP7 came really early and it had it's features. One of them was that browsers could only use the IE core...
I don't know what you mean with the camera. It had the same features as N808... With Lumia camera even more, than with Windows original camera app. And it was still Nokia, no MS.
The compatibility only failed once, when 7 turned to 8 and the system was completely rewritten to work with multicore CPUs.
No phone OS had reached parity with Symbian and probably never will. None of them can start alarm on a turned-off phone. None of them has a real multitasking.
The rest is just childish. Yes, Skype is far better than Hangouts, Outlook beats GMail in almost everything. And yes, for me Bing works better, than Google, which is just full of stupid ads. Good for children and for shopping maniacs, but not for real work.

Only because Microsoft is not in production since a long time and no one knows whether they will release any Phone in future. If Microsoft were in production, they must have a decent market share. You can't say Siemens's market share is zero. It doesn't make any sense since Siemens is not producing any Phone, same case for Microsoft's Windows Phone. Don't be fool.

The development of WP started after iOS and Android had proven themselves successful against WM6 and Symbian. WP has only one thing in common with WM6 - the creator. Oh, sorry, two thing. It's both Windows.
