Most devs build for IOS first so unless they use multithreads there they likely won't change it for android.

When people will understand that what should matter nowadays is better gpu performance and power efficiency, my z3 with snapdragon 801 is super fast.

They made it worse and they made the A10 much powerful SoC than Haswell clock per clock. Those ret*rded dev should be shot in the head. Again, wider CPU nonsense has nothing to do with IPC. If anything that video encoding should take advantage of multicore but it is not because it is as worthless as Geekbench.

So what? We are using our phones to watch video clips, browse the internet, and listen to music sometimes Facebook and stuff,no body runs Adobe photoshop on his phone or 3d max or Maya, and what we do with our phones doesn't need the heat of CPU argument and the heat of CPU itself

AnonD-632062, 18 Mar 2017Awesome scores! I knew they would overtake the excellent Ki... moreIt's the most mediocre release in the history of Exynos SoCs.
Every year they would post 30-40% gains. This year it was only 10%, despite the smaller node.
If I were you I would be depressed, it means Moore's law is close to the end . It also means that new phones would be less and less differentiated that the last one ... we'd eventually be like laptops are. Keep the same for years to no end. The era of rapid development is closing to the end because the market matured.
Thank god for China for keeping new things alive (first to minimize bezels by as much, 6 or 8GB of ram this year, Kirin processors, ultra large batteries). By now I only keep looking at the chinese market (if rumours are correct Mi mix 2 would *crash* any Korean,Japanese or American phone).

J o m s, 18 Mar 2017Apple SoC was beaten already until the M*nkeys changed the ... moreStop referencing Geekbench 3. It showed snapdragon on par with a. Then you run video encoding on both iphone and an SD820 and the Qualcomm processor is 40% slower.
Geekbench 4 was built to reflect that fact more. So they had a mistake in their methodology and they solved it. It makes sense too, never in the history of computers would a narrower cpu (SD820) bear or match a much wider a9/A10.
So stop foaming from your mouth and give kudos where kudos is deserved. Then again Apple does that with only 2 cores, if they try to parallelize more they would need to make the cores of narrower architecture so the results would start come closer to Qualcomm's.
It's possible that Exynos 8895 is still the faster cpu though because android is highly parallelized eventually giving a smoother response rate than applause A10.

Awesome scores! I knew they would overtake the excellent Kirin 960 but I wish they closed down more gap on the single Apple Fusion core.

Anonymous, 18 Mar 2017nice scores but still mali? nah. samsung just want more moneyWhy not mali? Exynos had a leaf in s1...with power vr. A lead in s2 with mali. The mali in the note 4 and s6 had better sustained performance.
And the mali g71 might outpace the Adreno 540 and be more stable.
So why not mali?

First of all tablet chips are different.
Second there is way way way more to these cups than just a cpu score.
Third you can't do simple math apparently because that's 500 not 400.
Do you even know what an SoC is?

it is embarrassing number for both chipsets. My 2,5 years old Air 2 getting similar scores. Basically no improvement in Android chipset perforance since 2015. Why not when just take apple chipset in a phones, a10 fusion score 3500, it is really unforgivable. from Qualcomm or Samsung side. exynos 7420 scores 1400 in single core performance, measly 400 points improvement. Looks like i will wait for another year, no point to upgrade from trusty S6

Why does Samsung split up the processor architectures by region. At the time when Samsung Galaxy S3 was released, the reason why they split up the architectures was because the Exynos was lagging behind Qualcomm in terms of support on 4G technology, but leading in core count, so they sold the Exynos to non-4G prevalent countries and Qualcomm to the 4G countries.
Now that Exynos had caught up with Qualcomm, what's the sense for Samsung to split up the production? Is it because they're trying to regionalize their product to combat the grey market?
