not a Samsung fan at all but as I always say to the people I know, Exynos is way better than SD, if Samsung could just utilize it like how Apple does it with their A-Chips

So Samsung's Exynos is better than Qualcomm for third generation in a row. Also, Samsung and Apple are the only ones these days that actually make better custom cores than Arm's best, which now is the A73. Qualcomm went stock too, since the A72/A73 is better than custom Kryo and went 8 core since single threaded performance doesnt matter on Android much compared to multithreaded, as Android takes advantage of 8 threads seamlessly across all tasks but javascript on web.

I suspect Adreno will still be the more efficient GPU though, and Qualcomm might possibly have the better modem.

Anonymous, 17 Mar 2017That's because it's a wide cpu. That's exactly what I was t... moreWhat workload are you talking about? The tests in GB are worthless and does not do the real thing. Look at PCMark, it does the REAL thing, REAL long load. You will see what is happening not just random progress bar or number LoL.

Look at Basemark, GFXBench and even Antutu. They all do real stuff (at least on Graphics) and they showed SD821 is about 95% of the performance of the A10 and better in some areas. Not 50% like what this worthless GB is telling to us LoL.

And FWIW, anyone who thinks A10 is superior than Haswell clock per clock (because they saw it in GB) is complete iD!*t. There is no way in hell a sub-10 watt crippled SoC will outlcass a desktop processor otherwise people will just buy a desktop with A10 or A9 SoC LoL. These developers of GB are ret*rded and thought they could come up with a universal benchmarking tool that everyone can use regardless of the platform or OS.

J o m s, 17 Mar 2017Nope, look at A9, it got the same score both in GB3 and GB4... moreThat's because it's a wide cpu. That's exactly what I was talking about before. Wide CPUS do not seem that much faster in small workloads (like in Geekbench 3), in longer workloads they can sustain performance wich is why it had the same score as with GB3.

Android cores are small, they seem faster in small workloads but in actual use they ain't. GB4 showed Apple cores that much faster because they *are* that much faster. If you encode video you'd see the same thing. Big cores (when running on the same node) are typically faster.

Like I said GB4 fixed the incosistencies of GB3 ... lay off your biases.

I don't even like Apple, but it's the one company with the most advanceD core performance ... Geekbench or not. SpecInt show the same thing , video encoders show the same thing. In shot you are wrong...

Free beer at my place ;-) happy sct Patrick's day

Android needs many cores because of their complicated kernel:
                            apps-framework ⇄ core-libraries ⇄ ndk ⇄ dalvik ⇄ linux-kernel

On the other hand iOS uses native code in most part so they don't need to increase the number of their cores. That's why they are designing huge cores with a huge depth pipelines, huge caches, etc... , which leads Hurricane to a much higher score than other cores'

So what matters in an android phone, single core performance or multi core performance, here's a detailed description -
                              http://www.androidauthority.com/fact-or-fiction-android-apps-only-use-one-cpu-core-610352/
Just stop fooling yourself by Apple's dillusional single core scores while the A10 can't handle and multi core efficiently, iphone doesn't have hardware like Note 7 or galaxy S8 otherwise A10 will hang in even rebooting the phone.

I edit my videos with iMovie and then export the video, and yes i do that with iPad, sometimes with my phone but iPad is better.

Also who cares who does it? Heavy tasks show what kind of speed monster Apple devices are and it's not only because of the Chipset, Apple uses desktop quality NAND memory which makes big difference in heavy tasks just like the video shows.

Noooonody cares about this chart but you
More than 90% of people do not even care about their phones bench score
They buy iPhone / android because
                                    -they broke their phone
                                    -becomes too slow
                                    -on sale

Then they tend to buy a phone what's more popular among their friends
Opening apps faster for .1 sec isn't gonna help here

Anonymous, 17 Mar 2017We are talking about soc raw performances. Not about who do... moreWhat RAW performance are you talking about? OP3T loaded the pages and apps faster than iPhone can. Again loading a page involves HTML rendering, DOM manipulation, image compression, database access, network latency, memory read/write. These tests are combined in a real world app not in a worthless Geekbench app LoL.

Play the same game side-by-side on iPhone 7 and OP3T or S7. You will hardly notice any difference in speed but in quality. One is pixelated because of the 720p display and one is eye-candy LoL.

Your benchmarks mainly show app opening animations. So much for the performance comparison.
The two phones are very close in the website opening comparison and you are like "omg! the A10 is such a fraud!!"
