J o m s, 22 Mar 2017SD835 and A10 are equally good in CPU, SD835 is much better... moreActually Adreno 540(835) will be similar in raw performance with PowerVR Series 7XT GT7600 Plus(A10 Fusion) and considering that iPhone 7 has 1MP display to push and iPhone 7 Plus 2MP display to push. Apple devices will have an edge in GPU performance over Android flagships which use 1440p displays, 3.7MP(more than 3x the resolution of 7, and nearly 2x the one of 7 Plus)...and Apple A11 will come in October, in about 7 months, with much improved performance.

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2017its the software , its based off the same Arm design .The cores in A10 Fusion may use the same ARMv8-A architecture as the ones in Snapdragon 835... But that doesn't mean that they are equal... The Hurricane cores (A10) are customer made by Apple and have much better performance per core than Kryo 280, but they are also larger, that's the reason why they are just 2(I'm talking just about the big ones, not the LITTLE Zephyr ones)... In contrast Kryo 280 are semi-custom based on the stock A73 from ARM and are smaller in comparison and lower in performance per core, but are 4 of them (again I'm talking just about the big ones at 2.5GHz, not the LITTLE ones at 1.9GHz)... So to sum it up, A10 Fusion has better single core performance, but worse multi core performance and IOS it's optimised to use the single core speed as an advantage, 835 has worse single core performance, but better multi core performance and Android is optimised to use the bigger number of cores and overall more raw power as an advantage. In the end you won't see a big difference when comparing an iPhone with a flagship Android in day-to-day usage... The software part that you talked about comes to help IOS when we talk about games, which open faster and could run a bit better(in a extremely demanding game) on Apple devices, developers choosing to optimise better the IOS versions of a game because it sells better there and they are much fewer devices to work on making things easier to do.

Okay the graphics performance part is interesting, still messing the power efficiency part.

Surficial, 22 Mar 2017I'm sure apples mobile SOCs would work in something like th... moreMicrosoft and MacOS, and ESPECIALLY Linux is not compatible with Arm based architecture. For first point of why. X86 is CISC Architecture based(complicated Instruction String Code) which takes up FAR MORE Resources (such as frequency and L2 Cache) and generates MASSIVE amount of heat (65W to about 140 depending on how it's built)
While ARM is RISC (Reduced Instruction String Code) which are far simpler, and due to that Technique. You can use lower Frequency and Cache for the same preformance as an x86 with peak heat of just 3W (True that Kaby Lake i7 is FAR more powerful than a Fusion Core. At 5784 and 3,479 respectively)
Due to the fact there are two Instruction Systems. The PC cannot "Decide" which Instruction to use as A propertiary Desktop OS doesn't know how to "handle" RISC coding. Thus impossible in reality.
CONSIDERING ARM and x86 could work Cooperatively. That would be a great Idea.

Exynos 8995 would have a far better GPU, which would shame Adreno 540.

Also arm cores could be added to x86 socs as efficiency clusters, if software works alright with it.

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2017its the software , its based off the same Arm design .It's definitly not based on the same core. Apple uses its own completely different, much wider design, with much higher IPC. The size of the A10 CPU cores are huge in comparison to other ARM designs.

You have to put A10 in Macbook with OSX and compare it with Intel equivalent Macbook to do proper comparison. Geekbench was loosely used by ret*rded reviewers to mislead readers than one SoC in a different OS is better than another SoC in a different OS.
The most reliable comparison between two different platforms is to use real-world apps and games. Of course you need to consider again the display resolution if you are running games. Time them, record the framerates, not the throw random useless score that don't mean anything.

Benchmarks should somehow take into account the power usage as better throughput can be achieved by cranking up the Hz thus increasing power usage.
