Snapdragon 835 benchmarked: impressive GPU, multi-core results

22 March 2017
With double the cores, it is certainly faster in multi-threaded tasks.

And while A10 is far ahead the android CPUs in single core performance, the multi core performance of Android CPUs is not much higher.

Don't bring apple everywhere. They aren't the benchmark how good everything is! The SoCs for Android works with multitude of hardware, still they work better and faster (yes!) than apple. The only thing apple could do faster is opening apps (still web apps on Android works faster).

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2017Snapdragon 835 Still not as powerful as it should It doesn't need to be as most consumers don't buy phones to check out benchmark scores. I am waiting if the 835 really does consume 40% less power compared to the 820/821. Seeing the S8 with only 3000 mAh (500 mAh less than the S7 edge) powering a 0.2" larger display makes me kinda iffy on it.

I went from SD600 in 2013 to 800 AB in 2014 and the power efficiency was excellent but the battery for the latter was also 700 mAh more. Then in 2015, I ended up owning three phones with only SD400! Nokia Lumia 635, Sharp Aquos Crystal, and LG G3 Beat. I got a Lumia 640 as well the following year.

My CPU doesn't need to be higher than 1.2 GHz. I don't game much either. All the specs I need is good battery life and RAM as I was stuck on 1gb for a couple of years. Fast forward to Snapdragon 820/821 with the G5, Pixel, and S7 edge which I barely got the last 32 days and perfectly content with their speed and 4gb RAM for 2016 flagships. All three of their cameras are amazing.

In 2018, we will get Exynos built on 7nm. We will get foldable displays (hopefully) after years of delay. Remember, I was stuck on entry level Snapdragon 400 with 1gb RAM for years. I used every drop of my limited RAM to my advantage. Now my more powerful phones can benefit from my experience with more efficient apps and usage.

Most idiots just buy phones if it looks good and has a decent camera. Then use that power they don't really need for their Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or Snapchat. I really see nothing in the horizon for 2017 that looks interesting. S8+ and Note8 will look the same. Probably the iPhone Edition could be amazing but I hate iOS and iTunes.

The wrong be any real life advantage, the is always hope on the anticipation of the new series, but in the end, there is always disappointment. This year won't add nothing on performance. That's why they stayed on 4gb ram too, this will be selling point for the next year, as the new Android is, will have new features to eradicate lag and combined with the optimized modules of this new 10mm tech and more ram, the S9 will have a visible advantage. Maybe pixel 2 too...
