i know that but a single phone isnt going to change the fortunes for symbian unless theyre as lucky as apple.
and regarding android app market, they grew from 10k apps a year earlier to 200,000 apps right now. isnt that a much better growth ?

and maybe symbian can make a comeback as you said but that requires nokia to release new phones, otherwise its sure symbian will RIP.
regarding the app store, i dont know about the downloads but im sure that android has the largest number of apps being added per day than any other OS (that includes iOS). thats why android is expected to overtake iOS appstore.

The web browser being crappy is because nokia has been using an old version of javascript and webkit that has been available since 2007. If you have a symbian^3 device, try out the latest qtwebkit that is featured in gmail apps by pixelpipe. You will notice that is super bloody fast, i shit you not. And pls, dont show me the 'pr2.0 on c7' vid, that browser has not been released yet. I've seen an old video of the new browser and it was WAY slower than what they have shown in the vid, so nokia is doing some improvements.
I think what he meant was ovi store has the highest growth in terms of download and number of apps

AnonD-291, 17 Mar 2011he is talking only about sales ! he says that Nokia will ca... moredamn the media, trying so hard to make it seem that symbian is 'dying'. And yes i've read the news. But i highly doubt that such strategy would happen, cause symbian is still too important for nokia and we wont be seeing a wp7 device from nokia till 2012, and probably by then symbian might just make a comeback thanks to the apps and updates that it WILL be receiving.
But who knows, it's just my theory

AnonD-3575, 17 Mar 2011About 20new smartphones in 2011, is that enough?
rumors ... morerumors are just rumors. technology has moved on to dual core and quad cores, and that's when Nokia starts producing 1 Ghz processors..LOL.. and no use of saying symbian is efficient and doesn't require dual core because the lack of raw processing speed is clearly being seen in current Nokia phone's web browser.
ovI has more downloads? android has five times more apps (200,000) , the highest rate of new apps being added and highest free to paid ratio.

AnonD-3575, 17 Mar 2011Sorry, but i will not respond to people who cant read my po... moreoh just leave them to enjoy their 'victory'.
Btw, there has been rumours that nokia is waiting for new generation batteries to roll in before joining the 'Ghz' race. Make's sense doesn't it? How many 1ghz+ smartphones do you see that can last through the day? People should realize that though mobile processors are evolving fast, battery technology isn't. If not, we should be enjoying quad core by now.
Last but not least, get rid of avkon, wrt and get on with qt nokia! It should be avkon and wrt to be blamed, not the processor what so ever. If you all have a symbian^3 device, you will know how smooth qt is compared to shitty avkon and wrt

AnonD-3575, 17 Mar 2011http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2011-03-09/new... morehe is talking only about sales ! he says that Nokia will cash in the "tail" of symbian. that's just what the ceo said, that they will sell some 100 million more symbian phones (whatevers left) before being phased out. he also clearly mentions about product transition. that is clear indication symbian is being replaced be windows.
if symbian continues then that will only be in non touchscreen phones that cost about 150$ (because they cant be run by wp7). whereas wp7 will completely replace all other symbian phone.

Check any GSMARENA postings related to Nokia products and you will see scores of responses compared to Apple or Android. This shows how symbian and Nokia are a threat to other products. And why are android fans reading each and every symbian thread? Is it fear or a subconscious love to symbian?

lets face it! unless this new Nokia/Microsoft deal goes really really well, in 5-10 years time its going to be a single race between Nokia and Alcatel for ownership of the "budget" market.
The way I see it is Symbian is going to be the OS for budget phones, and WM7 for their high end devices, but Nokia are currently like Sony Ericsson, when was the last device from these 2 GIANT'S that didnt suck? last year? 2 years ago? 5 years ago??
What a lot of these users dont realise is that the race for the "best" phone is no-longer hardware but software. Remember the Mega Pixel race in the days of the SEk800i? How well did that go down?
This is where Apple shine, iOS, yes it aint perfect but it works, I've had 2 Android phones and a N900 in the last 2 years and have settled for the iPhone 4! Why? Cause its beautifully executed and a joy to use?
Nokia/LG/Sony E/Alcatel/HTC are not going to win the "Mobile Race", simply because the software they are using isnt up to scratch compared to iOS, so they focus on hardware. Do we really need a Dual Core 1.2 Ghz processor to open emails and post to facebook (apart from re-booting from a crash faster) or do we need/want a better software solution?

AnonD-3575, 17 Mar 2011About 20new smartphones in 2011, is that enough?
rumors ... more20 is a nice figure but how long do you normally keep your phone 1yr 2yrs because by the time the average person replaces their phone if they get one now symbian will be BYE BYE (looks over shoulder, cries and walks into the sunset lol)
look at apple the release 1 handset a year and they do well, nokia release 10000000000000 handsets a month and they are slowly loosing their lead in the market share (lets face it most of that share is nokia 1800's anyways)
