Mick, 16 Mar 2011I thought they said that the N8 would be the last Symbian^3... moreIf my memory serves me right, the N8 is the first Symbian^3 device, as well as the last Symbian N-series.

Didn't hear them say anything about not putting it in other phones.

Ovi store has these apps as well. Not only do they have such apps for websites, Ovi store has a web for every large mainstream artist that takes you to the same website. Rihanna app, eminem app, Justin Bieber app. Yeah, you're one to talk about how other OS needs such app when ovi store is littered with them huh?

if the new device comes with the rumored specs (680 mhz processor, fixed focus 8 mega pixel cam, nhd screen with 360x640 resolution) it would b the biggest blunder by nokia as other manufacturers have almost double specs as compared to this one.it will be outdated 4m day one n 4 devices with somehow same specs already available(n8,e7,c7,c6-01).
nokia if this is the case please drop it.i m a big fan of urs don't do this to urself.

The only people who whine about 680MHz CPU or Symbian's lack of flashy UI animations are uninformed trolls and fashion gadget collectors. Wake me up when you figure out how to use a browser bookmark instead of downloading an app for every site you visit before discussing hardware or software.

Nokia have some amazing phones on the market ranging from nice and simple with basic things up to some of the most advanced phones with amazing video and picture quality, but they keep on trying to bring out more phones instead of improving the software and adding new things. their phones have an amazing ability to be leaders in the market they just have to have the right software to run them.

AnonD-1915, 17 Mar 2011hope is not another 8 megapixel-fixed focus camera... I can... moreIt obviously keeps cost down, reduces engineering cost, thus making the transition into WP7 easier.

There are two modules they may use, 8mp; or N8's sensor. Since Nokia stopped Symbian for N series, which were traditionally image/video rich, it's likely to be the 8mp.

Beside 8mp isn't too bad. Sure it's not nearly N8's quality - for casual moments you won't spot the difference. Would love to see N8 mk2 though I could dream.

Just to make things clear, Symbian^3 devices will be mid-range. So don't expect anything spectacular. Right now Nokia wants to use WP7 as their high-end devices until they can get MeeGO run properly.

Nokia seriously need something new and not a rehash of old world glory.

I don't mind Symbian3 if the UI is greatly improved with a new layer and a better screen resolution, with more Socially connected softwares that are the rage now.

And like all things, a better eco-system to tap into.

I have to agree with GSMA here: IMHO Nokia already has enough actual handsets with those rough specs. The market has shown that it doesn't mind if a manufacturer only has one or two handsets on the market (Apple), so long as the user experience and software delivers on their needs and wants.

I'm not saying iPhone, N8 or any other handset is perfect. I'm just saying that Nokia has plenty of variety in their lineup already, and would IMHO be better off focussing on delivering the software to make them really shine than yet another slight variation on the existing theme.
