Aussie-Dealer, 16 Mar 2011i agree with you that nokia sales have increased and that t... moresymbian will be competetive worldwide for at least 2 years
a lot can happen in those two years and nokia is moving things forward

a bit slow, i agree, but nothing serious
ovi store is growing fast, new ui is under way (hopefully a new browser)
other than that, there is not much bigger issues with symbian

blah blah blah people.. Didn't you know that Nokia is not performing at it's best now because of internal problems, and yet they've released an awesome phone that is the N8. How much more if they're back to business:) Just hoping this gets right soon.

AnonD-3575, 16 Mar 2011samsung could overtake nokia?! in which reality is that, b... morei agree with you that nokia sales have increased and that they are a strong competitor in the phone industrie

i just do not think that they will be able to compete within the phone market for much longer unless they can realese a system that can keep up with the Android and iOS systems.

they may not be dying just yet......but i have to say if they do not come up with a new OS they may find it very hard to keep up the sales

i have to say that the operating system on the N8 was not a strong system. we have so many come back to us within a week of sale. i hope that nokia will bring out a system that can prove it self. but while they keep using symbian software they will find it very hard to compete with both iPhone and Android operating systems because they are so versitile. nokia give australia something to belive in.

I always have high hopes for Nokia being a fan for 11 years, even though I dumped my last Nokia(N8) a few months ago, in preference of samsung galaxy s and a galaxy tab, but i am still hoping to get a Nokia in my pocket that keeps up with the changes.

Nokia releasing a new handset? Who cares? I'm currently using an X6 but I'm saving up for an Android phone. I'm thinking of getting a Samsung, LG or a Sony Ericsson. The smartphones of yesterday are not as smart as the ones released in this generation (iOS, WP7 & Android). Let's accept it, Symbian is plunging down and will demise. At least if they can stick with it and use Symbian as their entry-level phone's platform. Now that's a lot ok for me.

Killersmith, 16 Mar 2011No..they said that it was the last Nseries symbian...not th... moreThey cannot just kill symbian there are miilions of users of that platform. What we see here is its all about us americans and all about apple.Well millions DO NOT like apple,a lot of school bullying is caused by fruit firm when the child chooses NOT to have a fruit product .I dont like apple neither do my mates ,in fact all my mates i speak to in real life could not give one jot about mobile fones.Symbian is massive and they were selling 270,000 symbian smartfones per day. They cannot just drop it like that with all that interest just because america says so.If you get a symbian fone and see the amount of functions in it its massive.

I just press and hold left soft key to get messages read to me,press hold right soft key to activate many apps.I am so engrained in symbian like many(millions) others. Its not going anywhere it may even come back to life if win7 fails.

I see folk going round saying RIM is dead but with so many folk having one and it too is engrained in their real daily lifes its not going to just die.

I love all the manufactures except apple ,there i said it.I could not care less if they closed over night. What i do object to is it been shoved down my throat as if its the only company in the world,i speak for millions. If it came to war over mobile companys there are more anti-apple folk than for it.

Mobilemaster, 16 Mar 2011Samsung could overtake Nokia, as you mentioned. By the way ... moresamsung could overtake nokia?!
in which reality is that, buddy?

nokia sells two times more phones than samsung
smartphones also two times more than android

and their smartphone count has gone up again by 2% worldwide
android is rising, but will saturate the market soon

not bad for a "dying" maker

Why all the negativity Gsmarena? Hardware works fine and Symbian sells hell lot more than Android, per device.

And are there many "8-megapixel-fixed-focus-680Mhz-nHD-screen smartphones" phones for Nokia? C7 ans C6? Cause this is it! E7 is a qwerty and N8 is a camera phone...
On the other hand no hard feelings for the Android clones, Samsung with the indentical twins or SE with the same specs for every 2011 release...
As if it is natural for SE or a Samsung but lame for Nokia...

Considering the short time period it's been out, it's doing better than you might think.
It hit 10,000 apps in 142 days, faster than any other OS.
It took Android 11 months to hit that figure! WP7 has a great future.
