WP7 will go second by 2015, iOS and BlackBerry will lose ground

30 March, 2011
The analysts from IDC just published their forecast on the smartphone market development in the next five years. Apparently the company has some sort of crystal ball as we can’t see how else they...

As ever, take their opinion with a grain of salt. Six months ago, IDC predicted that Android would take until 2014 to challenge Symbian for first.

in 2015 android will have 52 % market share , apple 20 % market share blackberry 17 % ,symbian 0,000 % (killed by nokias CEO -Elop ) ,and other 11% (here will be included wp7).
Or maybe nokia will buy a new antivirus for trojan horses and symbian will be on 2-nd place as market share (imposible to give some numbers).

How can I get a job as an analyst? It's the easiest job in the world, I'd love to get paid for predicting some bullshit.

Why do people assume that since WP7 will get adopted by Nokia it'll gain a huge market share? Nokia fans are Symbian fans, if these analysts think they will jump straight to WP7 just cause it's on a Nokia device, they're crazy, they'll go to Android.

It'll be the other way around, WP7 will sink Nokia.

WP7 sells terribly, Microsoft won't even publish the sales numbers and there are some nice looking devices out there like Omnia 7, those few who want WP7, already have it, there is no need to wait for Nokia.

People don't like Windows Phone 7, while it looks flashy, it looks messy and unorganized you can't quickly glance at a screen and acquire information.

Android needs a lot of work(still no Hardware UI Acceleration) but it will probably dominate by numbers.

And finally there is nothing that comes close to iOS, NOTHING! The smoothness, the quickness, the design and looks, it looks very pretty and yet is clean so when you glance at it, you can quickly acquire information. Features are getting there too. And keep in mind that Apple is dominating with pretty much one phone, even if Apple loses some market share it'll still most likely be the benchmark that all the other operating systems will compare to.

Symbian, Nokia has no skills and talent to compete with the real software giants, Google, Microsoft, Apple, these guys are masters of software and hardware(Apple), Nokia can't come close.

In hardware, Samsung will easily overtake Nokia to become the #1 manufacturer in the world.

x, 30 Mar 2011there is no mobile phone outhere yet that has an interface ... more"ios has no lag"

iOS lags constantly like crazy even on iPad2. Not mentioning how long does it take to open the settings menu from scratch on any ios device. It's driving me nuts and that's the main reason I'm going to move to android.

there is no mobile phone outhere yet that has an interface witch can perfectly challenge ios and it's fluidity ..the design and qualiti materials used for iphone4 for example ,iet it s something unique .. they revolutionized the mobile industry ..after they're huge succes with iphone every phone manufacturer started copying them ( samsung of course is champion here ) after thei invented a virtual store..yet again they were copyed ..ios has no lag the pintch to zoom is flawless ..the battery on iphone lasts mor than other devices in cases like using yahoo mesenger or skype ..i had google nexus s and with messenger on it lasted only a day..on iphon 4 it lasted 4 days .. and you expect me to builive that wp7 witch has a laughin virtual store ..limitations similar to ios ( mirosoft copied apple haha ) ..will take over ?...get realll!

IOS surely will lose in the future, the reason is that there are too much restrictions in their os,if it was not for the fanboys of apple, the company would have vanished a long year ago because of its high price and military type restrictions ,i hope android and windows phone 7 make a great future for themselves while i think apple fanboys will continue to rescue apple for getting bankrupt, since they believe in living in their own world "the macintosh world, oooooh looks like an alien world ,what was the last game your ran on macintosh ,oh call of duty 4,hahhahahaha"

I disagree with this slightly. I agree about windows and Android dominating most market share, but I think iOS will grow due to it now partnering with more carriers as well as the fact it will become an alternative to the two listed above. Blackberry will finally decline and become non-existent with Symbian as it is pure rubbish.

                            this was all estimation only...

the most important is the wp7 phone from Nokia still not yet come out & before it come out it may outdated which other smartphone maker are moving quite fast now.

                              More like WP7 1st, Android 2nd.

It took just a few years for Android to become the top smartphone OS. WP7 will thrash it through Nokia and HTC.

From those stats it can be seen that Symbian is literally replaced by Windows. Probably Nokia is going to put all their smartphones to Windows.

In same line of though, if you take now Windows and Symbian market share (as a whole) you will see further 5% decrease of their mutual market share in favor of android.

Symbian will persist in the midrange because it gives good performance and battery life with moderate system requirements.
And unless there is no new battery technology on the horizon, there is no use for all these dual cores in cell phones if you really depend on it for making calls.

I count this optinos as incorect. There was other forcasts before, with similar idea, but different numbers. And belive it or not, it was incorect as well. Check the fackts. Android is leader only becoseu other OS have few issues. And belive it or not, in 2015 there probobly will be 3 companies in first position (extreamly close ratings)

This rating is based on new phones activated, current days and total phone users in world. Incorrect calculations, since they do not take social-economic reasons into equation.

                                        things that change in industry:
                                        1) android prices grows, so more ppl will buy alternatives, like iPhone
                                        2) WP7 soon will be on nokia, which will make a jump (a huge one) in WP7 shares
                                        3) rummor has it, that iPhone will have otehr versions then just 3.5 coll ones, so its shares will climb as well, but prices, part down (huge) and otehr part stay fixed. (any case, iPhone is bougth becvoseu of half eaten apple on its back, so its popularity is some what constant...)
