17 April, 2011
HTC has never been a competitor into the megapixel race, but this might as well change soon. According to a leaked short video ad, HTC is preparing a 16 megapixel cameraphone running Windows Phone...

If I want a great dedicated camera, it must have:
    1. Optical zoom
    2. Big megapixel
    3. hd video with stereo
    4. Has all dedicated backlit sensors like Exmor and etc.
    5. Shot picture very fast
    6. Stability picture
    7. A very high quality lens like Carl Zeiss or Sony G lens etc.
    8. Light and easy to carry

And these what you want is basic and some doesn't have in a camera phone..
They should stick with 8 mp or 10mp. They should improve:
    1. Very high quality lens
    2. No blurry picture and math it with a normal camera
    3. Fast picture taking
    4. Optical zoom ( not necessary.. make the phone thick)
    5. Very good camera interface - Smart focus, auto backlit sensor

I am horribly offended by that htc video. how stupid do they think we are? it's one thing to flash off the megapixels but to actually sound it out like the number of pixels matter to those character who probably just gonna post it on facebook.
LIGHT (xeon flash) CAMERA (big sensor and good lens) ACTION (we buy).

Laurynas, 17 Apr 2011"Altek Leo" with 14 Megapixel and 3x optical zoom... morethe problem is with the altek leo that it is weak and slow. it won't be able to make with the goods on the android. it's basicly an n8 only with android. I think it's getting silly with all this cpu muscle phones around but I wouldn't want to buy a phone without atleast 1ghz.

It can be the greatest camera in the world but I won't buy it if it doesn't have xenon flash and a darn good one too.

It's not the size of the sensor but the sensitivity of it - everybody knows that

I don't think anything above 5 mega-pixel is useless at all! The more pixels, just means you can blow up an image to a large size without it getting blurred. (which has been a handy thing for me) Not everyone likes the idea of a lot of pixels admittedly, but on most camera phones you can enable a preset pixel count depending on your preference. As long as you can do that, i don't see what the problem is myself?

Alot of megapixels do NOT automatically equal good quality pictures. There is optics, sensor etc. to take into account aswell

I always found HTC cameras to be the worst among it's rivals! Sharpness, contrast, detail they always lose against Nokia, samsung, SE and apple. So, seriously, if you want a good camera phone the last one you want to choose is from HTC.

On the other hand, If you want a brilliant smartphone than the first one to choose from is HTC.

I would have been much happier if Nokia or S/E did announce such thing, because I would have known that the quality would really have been great, but HTC? just Yawn :)

I truly respect HTC for their great quality but seriously if they are going to depend on shining specs and lose what's most important which is quality then I'm going to say screw HTC!

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2011I think they need to work on their 5 and 8mp cameras first.... moreI disagree about LEDs being useless, at least the Dual-LED that you found on Nokia phones are very powerfull and does a great difference at close range or complete darkness.
But I agree with everything else.
