I find that BS for what the carriers do! I mean u are paying for the data already, why would any body pay xtra for sharing the data they already paying???? As a consumer its up to you if you want to share your data via tethering...good thing thing I dont live in the US

we where only saying that i can connect to the internet with 50php or almost 1USD and they dont care what i do with it it includes tethering or using your phone as a modem with unlimited data no Gigs limitation but it can only go as fast as 2mbps

this is why I have never liked any network provider supplied phone. they remove the basics (ie MASS USB storage, any song ringtones, export of phone book to PC, export of photos to PC, export of text messages to PC) in an effort to increase revenue. Unfortunately, The US network providers really do need regulation. Without it we enjoy paying for recieving phone calls, and recieving texts, and being denied use of tethering.

LOL, that's freaking retarded. It's like saying, hey, we will charge you 20 bucks each month for using the web browser on Android phones even after we have charged you for the data usage you have bought.
Wi-Fi tethering is something the carriers shouldn't charge you for. Because when you buy a dataplan, then you can use whatever you want that for.
Here in Norway, a carrier would never ever charge us for something that Google gives us for free with Android 2.2+.
That carrier in Norway would digging it's own grave if they had done that.
Those US carriers must be desperate after money when they have to rob their customers for something that is free from Google or from Android Market. Some Wi-Fi tethering apps even cost money.
So how stupid are US going to be before they realize that they are pissing on them self when you see stuffs like this?

Thankfully no one charges for thethering in australia, I'm with telstra who dont care how you use your phone, just make sure you pay the bill if you go over your plan

This is redonkulous! You pay for data. You do as you please. They have prices for transfering data to you, you pay, you do as you please. How can they try and say if you want to use it this way we gotta charge you extra!? Especially att. I think it includes tether but its 45 plus tax for 4gb data alone. And there is a limit! 50 freakin dollars and its capped at a few gigs! Insane. Meanwhile our razr gets unlimited text, data, tether, and unlimited calls to other cells all for 30! Wtf!

I use a Samsung Galaxy S, and my network, 3UK, allows - all you can eat data - free, yes FREE!!!. I tether to my laptop and i get all the free internet that i want, plus emails to my phone, plus games that i play on my phone that use the internet, plus the apps that use the internet in the background. To my knowledge, 3UK are the only UK carrier that gives all you can eat data at no extra cost. The other UK carriers, like AT&T and the other US carriers would batter my wallet into submission . . . Nowadays, it's all about how much money companies are going to prise out of you, but how often do they give value for money?

Not blocked over here, since most of dumbasses here use Blackberrys and they only know how to chat, they cant imagine their phones doing tethering, I live in Colombia.

What people from Europe don't seem to understand is most US carriers have 5, if not 10 times the coverage you guys have, with fedwer paying customers. This means operating costs are through the roof compared to European carriers, hence the higher bills, and tighter conditions

LOL! here in Philippines , 50pesos unlimited internet.(any prepaid carrier). 10pesos unli text, 20-25 pesos unli call and text. all the mall and resort offfer free wifi. they also offer portable wifi up to 5 connection sharing. nice to share with friends. for only 50pesos 1day unlimited and 1200pesos for a month. 1.00 us dollar= 43.00pesos here. and i do have 4 simcards. which coast 1.00Dollar every prepaid sim.

This is easily one of the most ridiculous things I've known about in the context of customer/provider relationships. If a customer is already paying for data plan (of say 2gb), why he should be denied (or pay an extra) from spending the plan for what he wants? Surely, it's up to the customer to decide whether he wants to spend it on tethering, youtube or browsing... Or not?

If customers paid for their data, it's up to them to decide whether to underspend it or use everything they are entitled to. You shouldn't take data underspending of these 95% for granted and literally outlaw the rest.
