Not sure why we can't have carbon fibre/ graphite as a material?

I'm glad that site patron e-mails are read at GSM Arena.

Metal is ok but incompatible with wireless charging. Brittle materials are a triumph of design over function and will end up hidden under plastic cases, a glass/ceramic-backed phone in a rubber bumper is the sorriest and stupidest sight. That leaves plastic as the only smart choice - and, as expected, smart people are not abundant amongst our readers.

A big no for plastic(too cheapish looking) or ceramic(too fragile). I'll choose matal for durability and handling And glass for looks and scratch free back.

Plastic. Then cover it up with metal case lol.

Like what people that buy slim metallic phones do. Except not as stupid as what they do.

The keyone soft touch material is best. No fingerprints & good grip!

DenisXD, 16 Jul 2017Go wild for me. I mean we all saw everything so far. Gorill... moreYep. They finally nailed it with some mixture of metal, glass and plastic. If they want to make it more premium I would suggest to replace the plastic side frames with aluminium so it will be a mixture (for the top and bottom it is still metal) or make the whole frame metal. Kinda weird why Gorilla Glass 5 got a lower scratch level than Gorilla Glass 4, maybe because of the decrease of thickness?

                            Metal, metal, and more metal.

Go wild for me. I mean we all saw everything so far. Gorilla glass stuck at a lv6, metal is easy to bend, plastic easy to damage etc.

I would like to see chromium for example. I know metal, but harder metal in the world no less. More use of sapphire glass and bring back plastic frames around screens. They protect my Z5's screen like a boss.

Im all into classic believe me. I have no issue with any material, just as long as both durability and looks take 1st place. Z5 was the last smartphone featuring plastic frame around the screen, sadly. So oems should focus more on durability, no matter the material. XZ premium is plastic, but man if this phone doesn't bend.
Just plastic but still, sony pulled it off.

Bebe Rexha, 16 Jul 2017Sony nearly nailed it. Only if the side rails were about 5... moreSame goes for Nokia 3 and Nokia 6. One is full aluminum other polycarbonate

                                    Sony nearly nailed it.
Only if the side rails were about 50% metal and 50% high grade polycarbonate plastic, it would've been dope.

XZ Premium has plastic sides yet didn't fail JerryRigEverything's bend test - that's Sony's quality.

How about this idea? Make a phone with just a basic "frame" with circuitry and wires exposed, and let customers choose what material the sides and back are made from (glass, metal, plastic, leather, ceramic, wood, maybe combinations of each)... or use a more protective case directly on this minimal frame.
